3 Caibration quaity contro The consistent caibration quaity at Kister aboratories is ensured by three measures, together caed the Kister Accreditation: proof of traceabiity, inter-aboratory comparison and benchmark test. Proof of traceabiity (POT) is a decaration stating to which nationa standard a certain instrument has been compared. POT ensures a direct, metroogica ink to nationa and internationa standards. It furthermore aows a aboratory to estimate caibration and measurement capabiity (CMC) of a caibration system. Benchmark test is a aboratory-interna procedure, in which a dedicated unit under test (UUT) is caibrated at reguar intervas to confirm a system s stabiity between system caibrations, i.e. between POTs. Inter-aboratory comparison compares caibration resuts from different aboratories. A dedicated UUT is rotated between aboratories to monitor and thus ensure group-wide comparabiity of caibration resuts. Kister caibration experts serving customers across the gobe 3

4 Type-specific and appication-oriented Kister engineers and caibration experts have deveoped appication-oriented caibration procedures specificay for Kister sensors and devices. Measuring range, oading profies, boundary conditions and evauation agorithms are defined to suite the sensor and its appication. Appication-specific boundary conditions such as temperature, frequency and mechanica pre-oading are typicay incorporated into the caibration procedure. The caibration of piezoeectric combustion pressure sensors, for exampe, utiizes a continuous oading profie instead of traditiona static oading. The caibration is conducted at eevated temperatures to ensure reiabe measurement resuts during the cyinder pressure measurement in rea appications. These appication specific procedures not ony ensure traceabiity to nationa and internationa standards but aso confirm that the sensor / device is fit for use in a stringent appication environment. Recaibration intervas Industry standards typicay recommend recaibration intervas of 1 year. It shoud, however, be noted that recaibration intervas for sensors and measurement equipment depend heaviy on the specific appication and the usage thereof. The tabe on the right gives an overview of some recommended recaibration intervas for specific measurands and appications. 5 Charge ampifier caibration with a precision caibrator Kister caibration services Recaibration Recaibrations are the caibration services offered by Kister Tech Centers and Tech Offices wordwide (see map page 2). Adapted from the caibration at the production center, recaibration services inherit the appication-oriented procedures for various sensor types, and is characterized through its short turnaround time (5-10 working days). Recaibration is, where avaiabe, considered the preferred service for most Kister sensors and measurement devices. Controed aboratory conditions Locaized services Appication-oriented Short turnaround time EOL caibration The End-of-Line (EOL) caibration / test is the fina production step before the shipment to customer. The EOL caibration can aso be ordered as after saes service, i.e. an exact repetition of the caibration / test, as conducted before deivery. EOL Caibration is the preferred service when recaibration is not avaiabe. EOL Caibrations are avaiabe at Kister production center, where the respective device was produced and is thus often associated with a turnaround time of working days. Accredited caibrations are, typicay, used for the caibration of working and transfer standards. Accredited caibrations are avaiabe at accredited Kister aboratories wordwide. ISO conform In-situ caibration In-situ caibrations are, where possibe, performed at the customer site, e.g. on sensors and devices instaed in a production ine or test faciity, i.e. wherever the device is in use. This type of caibration ensures minimum downtime and eiminates any transport risks. Furthermore, the Kister service technicians in-depth knowedge of measurement techniques and systems often contribute to improving customer processes.
