Users wh are upgrading frm versin 6.0 r previus versins f MacCaptin shuld take a brief lk at the User Manual, Quick Start Guide and vide tutrials t learn abut the latest changes t the user interface. We hpe yu find these imprvements useful and we welcme yur cntinued feedback n the changes. Users with Mac OSX 10.8 (Muntain Lin) r lder will need t upgrade t Mac OS versin 10.9 (Mavericks) r later t use this versin f MacCaptin. NOTE: Please test befre upgrading yur prductin envirnment, especially if yu re in the middle f any prjects. It is always advisable t test the new versin befre updating yur prductin systems. Telestream can prvide yu with a limited license in rder t cnfigure and qualify this new release in a test envirnment prir t upgrading yur prductin systems. Installatin Instructins MacCaptin Installatin and Activatin Instructins: (see under Dcumentatin) T use the Aut Time Stamp (ATS) feature, yu must install a versin f Java that is cmpatible with yur Mac OS versin. There are tw ptins (please pick ne): Easiest slutin - dwnlad this update frm Apple: This wrks fine fr Aut Time Stamp, hwever, it installs Java 6 which is an lder versin f Java. Anther slutin - dwnlad Java versin 8 frm Oracle ( ). Yu can use either the JRE r JDK versins f Java 8. Java 9 is nt supprted in this release. Fixed in Versin Changed the re-psitin captin using number pad keys 1-9 keybard shrtcut t Shift + Numpad 1-9. This is due t the lack f a Num Lck key n Mac. Nw, using the number pad keys 1-9 (withut pressing Shift) will type the number int the cell r field, just like the regular number keys abve the QWERTY keybard. Pressing Shift + Numpad 1-9 will repsitin captins as described in the manual. (MACCAP-1604) Fixed a crash that culd ccur when typing n the number pad when the last (blank) cell f a captin prject was selected. (MACCAP-1597) New Features in Versin 7.0 Timed Text Speech & Transcriptin Mde Autmatic Transcriptin using speech-t-text technlgy The Timed Text Speech feature in MacCaptin will create a text transcript f speech in a vide and ppulate it directly int the captining prject with the crrect timing. The Transcriptin Mde can be used t rapidly find and crrect any mistakes in the transcript, whether it cmes frm Timed Text Speech r any ther text that yu have laded int the prject.

3 MacCaptin uses the Timed Text Speech service f Telestream Clud t analyze the audi track f a vide file and transmit text and timing infrmatin directly int the text edit cells as it becmes available. Timed Text Speech currently wrks with English, French, Brazilian Prtuguese, and Spanish language vide cntent. Timed Text Speech prcessing perates frm servers in Telestream Clud. Yu need t set up a Telestream Clud accunt t use Timed Text Speech, and when using Timed Text Speech, MacCaptin must be cnnected t the Internet in rder t create the transcript. Only the audi prtin is transmitted t Telestream Clud, s yur Internet speed nly needs t accmmdate that scpe f file size. Fr mre infrmatin n hw t use Timed Text Speech & Transcriptin Mde, please refer t the Quick Start Guide and the User Guide available via the Help menu in the sftware. Fixed in Versin 7.0 Clsing the prject windw withut saving first, and then clicking Save when prmpted t save unsaved changes, wuld smetimes result in a blank prject file being saved. (MACCAP- 1558) Changes t the subtitle cnfiguratin (fnt, size, clr, drp shadw, etc.) nw apply live t the preview windw. (MACCAP-1406) When dragging-and-drpping an SCC file int the captin area, in rare cases sme captins wuld be missing, but they wuld imprt when using File > Imprt. (MACCAP-1451) Push/Pull Wrd n lnger inadvertently changes the layut f captin cells affected by the peratin. (MACCAP-1408) Stretch/Shrink Timecde can nw be used n prjects with nly 1 line f captins in bth GUI and CLI mdes. (MACCAP-650) Knwn Issues in 7.0 When using Timed Text Speech n Mac OS r lder, and Safari has nt been updated t the latest versin, pening links t the Telestream Clud website may result in a blank r brken

4 page. This can be fixed by updating t the latest versin f Safari r by switching t a different default web brwser (e.g. Chrme, Firefx). (MACCAP-1574) When running at the minimum 1280x720 r lwer screen reslutin, sme UI cntrls may nt be visible n the screen, fr example the buttn at the bttm f the screen which tggles between Captin and Subtitle mde. Yu can still tggle between captin/subtitle mdes via the Display menu. When using a Macbk with a 13 Retina display with the display set t Larger Text (larger than nrmal scaling), the effective screen reslutin is lwer than 1280x720 and thus des nt meet the minimum screen reslutin requirement fr running MacCaptin. This can be fixed by ging t System Preferences > Display, and setting the reslutin t Best fr display. Anther ptin is t use an external mnitr that meets the minimum required screen reslutin. When imprting certain EBU-STL files cntaining right-t-left Hebrew, text may imprt number sequences in right-t-left rder (ppsite f intended) resulting in reversed numbers. (MACCAP-1048) When using Ruby subtitle frmatting, languages ther than Japanese are nt fficially supprted. (MACCAP-1023) Using the Add t File exprt nly wrks with input.mov target files that are n HFS+ frmatted lcal strage devices r AFP munted netwrk shares. Using Add t File n files stred n nn-apple netwrk shares r ther types f strage systems may result in invalid utputs. (MACCAP-1029) When using the Ruby anntatin dialg windw, cut/cpy/paste f Ruby anntatin text des nt wrk using keybard shrtcuts. The wrkarund is t right-click with the muse r trackpad and use the cntext menu t cut/cpy/paste. (MACCAP-1059) When cpying and pasting a blck f captin cells, MacCaptin may paste the previusly selected text cntent f the system clipbard. Users must specify the insertin pint by changing fcus t the Text Panel itself (EX. Click belw the timecde fields) and nt the Text (Editing) Cell within the panel. See p.31 f the User Guide fr Text Panel details. (MACCAP- 1067) When in Display as Captins mde and using the default display fnt, music ntes that are italicized will appear in italics in the mvie preview area, but may appear as un-italicized in the text editing area. This is because the default display fnt fr the text editing area des nt include an italicized versin f the music nte character. A wrkarund is t change the display fnt via Display > Fnt. Changing this display fnt nly affects the text editing area f the MacCaptin windw; it has n effect n the captin/subtitle fnt used fr rendering the preview display r fr exprts. (MACCAP-1041)

5 Imprting subtitles TTML files when in Display as Captins mde causes MacCaptin t attempt t re-frmat the subtitles t fit clsed captining rules (e.g. max f 32 characters per line). T prevent unwanted refrmatting f the subtitles, please switch t Display as Subtitles mde prir t imprting a subtitles TTML file. (MACCAP-1247, MACCAP-1292) Discnnecting a disk while MacCaptin is writing t it during an exprt may cause MacCaptin t crash r stp respnding. If exprting t a netwrk shared flder r remvable hard drive such that the drive culd becme discnnected during exprt, it is recmmended t save yur prject prir t exprt t avid any ptential lss f data. (MACCAP-1127) MacCaptin des nt supprt imprting, exprting, r previewing prjects with time cdes greater than 24 hurs r which rll ver frm 23:59:00:00 t 00:00:00:00. Yu will need t manually treat the segment up t 23:59 separately frm the segment after 00:00. (MACCAP- 1155) When imprting and exprting IMSC 1.0 Subtitles, fnt utlines are limited t 10% f the base fnt size per the specificatin. Fnt utline sizes larger than 10% will be truncated t 10%. (MACCAP-1228) Warning: The "Encde 708 captins fr 16x9" ptin in Captin > Encde Preferences is intended nly fr testing cnsumer TV sets and set-tp bx hardware. This ptin shuld nt be selected when delivering t prfessinal bradcast mechanisms and facilities. (MACCAP-1310) When the Find/Replace dialg is pen, the keybard shrtcuts fr Find/Replace may nt functin. If this ccurs, use the buttn cntrls in the Find/Replace dialg. (MACCAP-1534) When switching back t the MacCaptin prject windw frm anther applicatin windw (e.g. web brwser), sme menu items under the Help menu may be temprarily grayed ut until yu pen a different menu (e.g. Windw) and then g back t the Help menu. (MACCAP-1535) When setting a captin hrizntal psitin and then clicking in the time cde field t edit the time cde, pressing Und will nt und the change t hrizntal psitin. (MACCAP-1504) Users have reprted that MacCaptin cannt embed captins int XDCAM.MXF files created in Vantage with the ptin "Preserve SMPTE 436 Ancillary Data Track" in the MPEG-2 sectin f the Flip XDCAM encder" enabled. Wrkarund: Transcde the file in Vantage withut this ptin enabled and then insert captins using MacCaptin; r, perfrm the captin insertin using Vantage instead f MacCaptin. (MACCAP-1500) When exprting SMPTE-TT with PNGs and a mvie is laded in the preview windw, the reslutin f the mvie will be used t set the SMPTE-TT dcument extent, even if a different reslutin was specified in the Subtitle Reslutin drp-dwn menu.

6 Wrkarund: If yu need t exprt SMPTE-TT with PNGs with a different reslutin than the pen mvie, yu can clse the mvie prir t exprt and select the desired Subtitle Reslutin via the drp-dwn menu, r, lad a mvie which is the same reslutin that yu want t exprt. (MACCAP-1535)
