2 Foreword For Your Safety Thank you for purchasng ths product. Ths -on580ii F camera flash apples to Fuj seres cameras and s compatble wth TT autoflash. Wth ths TT compatble flash, your shootng wll become smpler. You can easly acheve a correct flash exposure even n complex lght-changng envronments. Ths camera flash features: GN60 (m ISO steps from 1/1 to 1/18. Fully support Fuj seres TT camera flash. Workable as Master or Slave unt n a wreless flash group. Use dot-matrx CD panel to make clear and convenent operatons. Wth bult-n.4ghz wreless ST-III remote system to support transmttng and recevng. Provded multple functons, nclude HSS (up to 1/8000s), secondcurtan sync, FEC, etc. Use optonal ST-I to adjust flash parameters & trgger the flash. Stable consstency and color temperature wth good even lghtng. Support wth frmware upgrade. A Always keep ths product dry. Do not use n ran or n damp condtons. In certan crcumstances, these materals may be senstve to the strong lght emttng from ths flash unt and fre or electromagnetc nterference may result. Ths flash unt uses I-on polymer battery whch has long runtme. The avalable charge-and-dscharge tmes are It s relably safe. The nner crcut s aganst overcharge, overdscharge, overcurrent, and short crcut. 3. Take only.5 hours to fully charge the battery by usng the standard battery charger. Cautons 1. Do not short crcut.. 6 3 To unload the battery, tap the whte knob and the battery pack wll pop out. Then close the compartment. Battery evel Indcaton Make sure the battery pack s securely loaded n the flash. Then, the battery can be used or be placed for long perod. Power Management Use ON/OFF Power Swtch to power the flash unt on or off. Turn off f t wll not be used for an extended perod of tme. Settng as a master flash, wll turn the power off automatcally afler a certan perod (approx. 90 seconds) of dle use. Pressng the camera shutter halfway or pressng any flash button wll wake up the flash unt. Settng as a slave flash, t wll enter sleep mode after 60 mnutes (adjustable, 30 mnutes by default) of dle use. Pressng any flash button wll wake t up. Fo Dsablng Auto Power Off functon s recommended when the flash s used off camera. (C.Fn-APO, Page 4) Slave Auto Power Off nmer s set to 60 mnutes by default. Another opton "30 mnutes" s avalable. (C.Fn-Sv APOT, Page 4) Attachng to a Camera 1 Attach the Camera Flash. Slp the camera flash's 3 mountng foot nto the camera's hotshoe all the way. Secure the Camera Flash. Rotate the lock rng on the mountng foot untl j locks up. Detach the Camera Flash. Rotate the lock rng on the mountng foot untl rt s loosened. Flash Mode: TT Autoflash Ths flash has three flash modes: TT, Manual (M), and Mult (Stroboscopc). In TT mode, the camera and the flash wll work together to calculate the correct exposure for the subject and the background. In ths mode, multple TT functons are avalable: FEC, HSS, second curtan sync, etc. Press <MODE> Mode Selecton Button and three flash modes wll dsplay on the CD panel one by one wth each pressng. TT Mode Press <MODE> Mode Selecton Button to enter TT mode. The CD panel wll dsplay <TT>. Press the camera release button halfway to focus. The aperture and effectve flash range wll be dsplayed n the vewfnder. When the shutter button s fully pressed, the flash wll fre a preflash that the camera wll use to calculate exposure and flash output the nstant before the photo s taken

7 FEC: Flash Exposure Compensaton Wth FEC functon, ths flash can adjust from -3 to +3 n 113rd slops. It s useful n stuatons where mnor adjustng of the TT system s needed based on the envronment. Settng FEC: 1 Press Functon Button < 11'!11 >. The con < > and flash exposure compensaton amount wll be hghlghted on the CD panel I Ell:11 3 Set the flash exposure compensaton amount. Turn the Select Dal to set the amount. "0.3"means 1/3 step, "0.?"means /3 step. To cancel the flash exposure compensaton, set the amount to "+0". Press < SET > button agan to confrm the settng. Second-Curtan Sync Wth a slow shutter speed, you can create a lght tran followng the subject. The flash fres rght before the shutter closes. Settng second-curtan sync: Use lhe0 Flash Settng > Flash ght Functon Settng on the camera's shootng menu to adjust settngs of the flash lght. More detals please refer to camera's nstructon menu. ro When choosng REAR on the "SYNC" settng, t means the second-curtan sync functon s turned on. ml Hgh-Speed Sync Hgh Speed Sync (Hss flash) enables the flash to synchronze wth all camera shutter speeds. Ths s convenent when you want to use aperture prorty for fll-flash portrats. Settng the flash to Hgh-speed Sync mode when s on the camera: Use the O Flash Settng > Flash ght Functon Settng on the camera's shootng menu to adjust settngs of the flash lght. More detals please refer to camera's nstructon menu. Fo When choosng FP on the "SYNC" sellng, hgh-speed sync functon s turned on. I Wth hgh-speed sync, the faster the shutter speed, the shorter the effectve flash range. Mult flash mode cannot be set n hgh-speed sync mode. Over-temperature protecton may be actvated after 15 consecutve hgh-speed sync flashes

8 Flash Mode -- M: Manual Flash The flash output s adjustable from 1/1 full power to 1118th power n 113rd stop ncrements. To obtan a correct flash exposure, use a hand-held flash meter to determne the requred flash output. 1 Press < MODE > button so that< M > s [ mm) Y 9 1Bm 3 Turn the Select Dal to choose a desred flash output amount. Press < SET > button agan to confrm the settng. Flash Output Range The followng table makes t easer to see how the stop changes n terms off/stop when you ncrease or decrease the flash output. For example, when you decrease the flash output to 1/, 1/-0.3, or 1/- 0., and then ncrease the flash output to more than 1/, 1/+0.3, 1/+0., and 1/1 wll be dsplayed. Wth ths functon, the flash wll fre synchronously when the man flash fres, the same effect as that by the use of rado trggers. Ths helps create multple lghtng effects. Optcal S Secondary Unt Settng Press Functon Button 3 <Ellm!I> button so that ths flash can also functon as an optc S secondary flash wth optc sensor n M manual flash mode. Ths s useful when cameras have pre-flash functon. Wth ths functon, the flash wll gnore a sngle "preflash" from the man flash and wll only fre In response to the second, actual flash from the man unt. Manual Off Camera Hgh-speed Settng In M manual flash mode, press Functon Button 4<B'ml> button to select hgh-speed mode and BI s dsplayed. lo S1 and S optcal trggerng s only avalable n M manual flash mode. Flash Mode -- Mult:Stroboscopc Flash Wth stroboscopc flash, a rapd seres of ftashes s fred. It can be used to capture a multple mages of a movng subject n a sngle photograph. You can set the frng frequency (number of flashes per sec. expressed as Hz}, the number of flashes, and the flash output Bm MS#MYMG!!lllEIIII 1 Press <MODE> button so that < l!l!l! > s dsplayed. Turn the Select Dal to choose a desred flash output. 3 Set the flash frequency and flash tmes. Press Functon Button 3 <l!l!l! > to select the flash tmes. Turn the Select Dal to set the number. Press Functon Button 4 <11:m> to select the flash frequency. Tum the Select Dal to set the number. After you fnsh the settng, press <SET> button and all the settngs wll be dsplayed. Calculatng the Shutter Speed Durng stroboscopc flash, the shutter remans open untl the frng stops. Use the formula below to calculate the shutter speed and set wth the camera. Number of Flashes / Flash Frequency = Shutter Speed For example, f the number of flashes s 10 and the frng frequency s 5 Hz, the shutter speed should be at least seconds. A To avod overheatng and deteroratng the flash head, do not use stroboscopc flash more than 10 tmes n successon. After 10 tmes, allow the camera flash to rest for at least 15 mnutes. If you try to use the stroboscopc flash more than 10 tmes n successon, the frng mght stop automatcally to protect the flash head. If ths happens, allow at least 15 mnutes' rest for the camera flash. ro Stroboscopc flash s most e f fectve wth a hghly reflectve subject aganst a dark background. Usng a trpod and a remote control s recommended. A flash output of 1/1 and 1/ cannot be set for stroboscopc flash. Stroboscopc flash can be used wth"bulb". If the number of flashes s dsplayed as " ", the frng wll contnue untl the shutter closes or the battery Is exhausted. The number of flashes wll be lmted as shown by the followng table

9 Maxmum Stroboscopc Flashes: : / / / / / / Slave Unt Settng 1 Press <'" z. > button so that <('f')> and< Emu!> are dsplayed on the CD panel.. Settng Master Unt's Flash Mode 1 The backlght turns orange now. Press Functon Button 4 <ll!lll> to choose the group from M/NB/C. Then, press Functon Button 3 <MODE> so that the master unt can work n OFFfTTUM flash mode. Choose one of them as the flash mode of master unt Wreless Flash Shootng: Rado (.4G) Transmsson You can set up three slave groups for TT autoflash shootng. Wth TT autoflash, you can easly create varous lghtng effects. Any flash settngs for the slave unts on the master flash n TTUManual/Mult mode wll be automatcally sent to the slave unts. So the only thng you need to do s to set the master unt for each slave group wthout any operaton for the slave unts at all durng the shootng. Ths flash can work n TT /M /Mult / OFF flash modes when set as a master unt. As a slave unt, -on580ii F s compatble wth Pxapro ST-III seres transmtter e.g. ST-III C (Canon), ST-III N (Nkon), ST-III S (Sony), ST-II F (Fuj), ST-III O (Olympus or Panasonc). Fo Even wth multple slave unts, the master unt can control all of them va wreless. In ths user manual, Nmaster unt" refers to the camera flash on a camera and "slave unt' wll be controlled by the master unt. 1. Wreless Settngs You can swtch between nonnal flash and wreless flash. For normal flash shootng, be sure to set the wreless settng to OFF. Master Unt Settng 1 Press < => button so that < (,,,) > Is dsplayed on the CD panel. lf<('f')muti> s dsplayed, t means Mult mode s ON. The backlght turns green now. Press < MODE > button to swtch to Mult mode. 3. Settng the Communcaton Channel If there are other wreless flash systems nearby, you can change the channel IDs to prevent sgnal nterference. The channel IDs of the master unt and the slave unlt(s) must be set to the same. 1 Press Functon Button 3 < m > and turn the Select Dal to choose a channel ID from 1 to 3. Check the communcaton channel If the master unt and slave unt(s) are set to a dfferent channel, set them to the same channel. (Page 1) Poston the camera and flashes Poston the camera and flashes as the pcture shows. (Page 0) Check that the flash s ready Check that the master flash ready ndcator s lghtened. When the slave flash ready ndcator s ready, the AF-assst beam lghtng area wll blnks at 1 second ntervals. Check the flash operaton Press the master unt's Test Button < \ >. Then, the slave unt wll fre. If not, check whether the slave unt s put n the rght poston or not. Usng Fully Automatc Wreless Flash The FEC and other settngs that set on the master unt wll also be appeared on the slave unt automatcally. The slave unt does not need any operaton. Use the followng settngs to make wreless flashes accordng to the same methods wth normal flash shootng. Flash Exposure Compensaton (11'!111 Page 1 ) About Master Unt Use two or more master unts. By preparng several cameras that wth master unts flash attached, cameras can be changed n shootng whle keepng the same lghtng source (slave unt). 5. M: Wreless Flash Shootng wth Manual Flash Ths descrbes wreless (multple shootng) usng manual flash. You can shoot wth a dfferent flash output settng for each slave unt (frng group). Set all parameters on the master unt. 1 3 Settng the flash mode to <M> Press Functon Button 4 <11!11> to choose groups. Then, press Functon Button 3 < MODE > to set the flash to M mode. Settng flash output When choosng the state of the group, press Functon Button -am- to set the power output. Turn the Select Dal to set the flash output of the groups. Press the <SET> button to confrm. Takng the pcture Each group fres at the set flash rato. A The slave unt mght be out of order or fre an unwanted flash due to the nearby fluorescent lamp or computer screen. ro If the slave unt's auto power off functon s workable, press the master unt's test button to power t on. Please note that test frng s unavalable durng the camera's regular meterng tme. The effectve tme of slave auto power off s changeable. (C.Fn-Sv APOT/ Page ) By makng some settngs, the auto AF-assst transmtter wll not blnk after the slave unt's flash ready ndcator s lghtened. (C.Fn-AF/ Page 4) 6. Mult: Manual Wreless Flash Shootng 1 Settng <Mult> stroboscopc flash. Press <MODE> button so that <(''')MUTI> s dsplayed. Settng the stroboscopc flash. Usng a flash (master/slave) wth a rado transmsson wreless shootng functon make t easy to shoot wth advanced wreless multple flash lghtng, n the same way as TT autoflash shootng. The basc relatve poston and operaton range are as shown n the pcture. You can then perform wreless TT autoflash shootng just by settng the master unt to <TT>

11 Postonng and Operaton Range (Example of wreless flash shootng) Autoflash Shootng wth One Slave Unt Transmsson dstance Is about 100m. ro Use the suppled mn stand to poston the slave untt. Before shootng, perform a test flash and test shootng. The transmsson dstance mght be shorter dependng on the condtons such as postonng of slave unts, the surroundng envronment and whether condtons. Other Applcatons Wreless Control Functon The flash unt s bult n wth a Wreless Control Port so that you can wrelessly adjust the power level of the flash and the flash trggerng. To control the flash wrelessly, you need a ST-I remote control set (on-camera and on-flash). Insert ts receve end nto the Wreless Control Port on the flash and nsert the transmt end nto the camera hot shoe. Settngs made on the hotshoe-mounted transmt and receve ends wll be wrelessly communcated to the flash. Then you can press the camera shutter release button to trgger the flash. You can also hold the transmt end at hand to control your off-camera flash. Wreless Multple Flash Shootng You can dvde the slave unts nto two or three groups and perform TT autoflash whle changng the flash rato (factor). In addtton, you can set and shoot wth a dfferent flash mode for each frng group, for up to 5 groups. Auto Shootng wth Two Slave Groups Auto Shootng wth Three Slave Groups For full nstructons on the use of ST-I seres flah trggers, see ts user manual. Sync Trggerng The Sync Cord Jack s a <P.5mm plug. Insert a trtgger plug here and the flash wll be fred synchronously wth the camera shutter. Auto Focus Assst Beam In poorly-lt or low-contrast shootng envronments, the bult-n auto focus assst beam wll automatcally lght on to make t easer for autofocus. The beam wll lght up only when autofocus s dffcult and get out as soon as the autofocus becomes correct. If you want to turn off the auto focus assst beam, set the "AF" to "OFF" on the C.Fn settngs. ro If you fnd the auto focus assst beam does not lght up, ths s because the camera has got a correct autofocus. The auto focus assst beam can only start up n the slow shutter. Poston Center Perphery Effectve Range m I.0-3.B feet 0.6-Sm I feet

12 Bounce Flash By pontng the flash head toward a wall or celng, the flash wll bounce off the surface before llumnatng the subject. Ths can soften shadows behnd the subject for a more natural-lookng shot. Ths s called bounce flash. To set the bounce drecton, hold the flash head and tum t to a satsfyng angle ZOOM: Settng the Flash Coverage and Usng the Wde Panel The flash coverage can be set automatcally or manually. It can be set to match the lens focal length from 0 mm to 00mm (135 system). Also, wth the bult-n wde panel, the flash coverage can be expanded for 1mm wde-angle lenses. ChooseAPS or 135 system n the C.Fn-AP. In Manual Zoom mode, press the <ZOOM/C.FN> button. Tum the Select Dal to change the flash coverage. If <a> s dsplayed, the flash coverage wll be set automatcally. ro If you set the flash coverage manually, make sure t covers the lens focal length so that the pcture wll not have a dark perphery. ro If the wall or celng s too far away, the bounced flash mght be too weak and result n underexposure. The wall or the celng should be a plan, whte color for hgh reluctance. If the bounce surface s not whte, a color cast may appear n the pcture. Creatng a Catchlght Wth the catchlght panel, you can create a catchlght n the subject's eyes to add lfe to the facal expresson. 1 Pont the flash head upward by Pull out the wde panel. The catchlght panel wll come out at the same tme. Push the wde panel back n. Push n only the wde panel. Follow the same procedures as for bounce flash. The catchlght panel wll come out at the same tme. Push the catchlght panel back n. The <ZOOM/C.FN> button wll not work. ow Battery Warnng If the battery power s low, < 0 > wll appear and blnk on the CD panel. Please replace the battery mmedately. A Pont the flash head straght ahead and then upward by 90. The catchlght wll not appear f you swng the flash head left or rght. For best catchlght effect, stay 1.5m/4.9ft away from the subject

Frmware Upgrade Ths flash supports frmware upgrade through the USB port. Update nformaton wll be released on our offcal webste. lo USB connecton lne s not ncluded n ths product. Over-Temperature Protecton To avod overheatng and deteroratng the flash head, do not fre more than 30 contnuous flashes n fast successon at 1 /1 full power. After 30 contnuous flashes, allow a rest tme of at least 10 mnutes. If you fre more than 30 contnuous fashes and then fre more fashes n short ntervals, the nner over-temperature protecton functon may be actvated and make the recyclng tme over 10 seconds. If ths occurs, allow a rest lme of about 10 mnutes, and the flash unt wll then return to normal. When the over-temperature protecton s started, s shown on the CD dsplay. The Camera Flash cannot be charged. The battery s nstalled n the wrong drecton. -Install the battery n the correct drecton. The camera flash's nternal battery s exhausted. -11 < 0 > appears and blnks on the CD panel, replace the battery mmedately. The Camera Flash does not fre. The camera flash s not attached securely to the camera. -Attach the camera's mountng foot securely to the camera. The electrcal contacts of the Camera Flash and camera are drty. -clean the contacts. The power turns off by tself. After 90 seconds of dle operaton, auto power off took effect f the flash s set as master. -Press the shutter button halfway or press any flash button to wake up. After 60 mnutes (or 30 mnutes) of dle operaton, the flash unt wll enter sleep mode If It s set as slave. -Press any flash button to wake up. Auto zoom does not work. The camera flash s not attached securely to the camera. -Attach the camera flash's mountng foot to the camera. The flash exposure Is underexposed or overexposed. You used hgh-speed sync. -Wth hgh-speed sync, the effectve flash range wll be shorter. Make sure the subject s wthn the effectve flash range dsplayed. You used Manual Flash mode. -set the flash mode to TT or modfy the flash output. Photos have dark corners or only parts of the target subject are Illumnated. The focal length of lens exceeds the flash coverage. -check the flash coverage you set. Ths flash unt has the flash coverage between 0 and 00mm, whch fts medum-format cameras. Pull the wde panel out lo extend the flash coverage
