General safety nstructons Danger due to electrc shock when workng on all electrcal systems. The electrcal connecton for the tubular motor and all work on the electrcal systems may only be undertaken by an authorsed qualfed electrcan and n accordance wth the connecton dagrams n these nstructons, see pages 41/42). Always undertake mountng and connecton work wth the equpment dsconnected from the mans power. Mortal danger n the event of falure to observe these nstructons! Observe the regulatons regardng nstallaton n damp rooms. Especally observe DIN VDE 0100, parts 701 and 702 when nstallng n damp rooms. These regulatons contan mandatory protectve measures. The use of defectve equpment can lead to personal njury and damage to property (electrc shocks, short crcutng). Never use defectve or damaged equpment. Check the drve and mans cable beforehand for damage. Consult our customer servce department (see page 52) n the event that you dscover damage on the equpment. Accordng DIN 13659, t s necessary to determne that the movement condtons for the shutters are mantaned n accordance wth The dsplacement must amount to at least 40 mm on the lower edge n the rolled-out poston wth a force of 150 N n the upwards drecton. In dong so, t must be ensured that the extendng speed of the shutters for the fnal 0.4 m s less than 0.2 m/s. Potental rsk to lfe and lmb resultng from uncontrolled startng of the drve. Never attempt to manually stop the motor/shutters n the event of uncontrolled movement. In such cases, swtch off all power to the drve and take approprate safety precautons to prevent unntentonal swtchng on. Arrange to have the system checked by a specalst engneer. Incorrect use leads to an ncreased rsk of njury. Tran all personnel to safely use the tubular motor. Do not allow chldren to play wth the fxed control unts. Do not allow chldren or persons wth lmted capabltes to use the fxed control unts or remote control systems. For roller shutters: Watch the movng roller shutters and keep other people away from the area untl the movement has completed. Undertake all cleanng work on the roller shutters wth the equpment dsconnected from the mans power. For awnng systems whch can be operated out of sght of the operator: Awnngs may not be operated f work s beng carred out nearby (e. g. wndows beng cleaned). For automatcally actuated awnngs: Awnngs must be dsconnected from the power supply f work s beng carred out nearby. Regular mantenance of awnngs ncreases operatonal relablty. Regularly check the awnngs for poor balance as well as damaged leads and sprngs. Have damaged awnngs repared by a specalst frm. Contact wth the drve housng can cause burns. The tubular motor gets hot durng operaton. Allow the motor to cool down pror to undertakng any further work on the motor. Never touch the hot drve housng. Proper use / operatonal condtons Only use the tubular motors for openng and closng roller shutters and awnngs. In the event of outsde nstallaton the motor cable must be lad on a sutable empty tube up to the juncton box under observaton of local electrcal regulatons. Only use the manufacturer's orgnal components and accessores. Only use tubular motors whch correspond to the local condtons n terms of ther output. Incorrectly dmensoned tubular motors can lead to damage: An nsuffcently dmensoned tubular motor can be damaged due to overloadng. An excessvely dmensoned tubular motor can cause damage, for example, to the roller shutters and roller shutter casng when confgurng the automatc end-pont settng. Consult a specalst dealer when selectng the tubular motor and observe our tractve force specfcatons on our Webste: Operatng condtons A contnuous 230 V /50 Hz mans supply must be avalable at the ste of nstallaton for the electrcal connecton n combnaton wth on-ste swtchgear (fusng). Incorrect use Never use the tubular motor: For systems wth ncreased safety-relevant requrements or where there s an ncreased rsk of accdents. Such use would requre addtonal safety equpment. Observe the respectve statutory regulatons for the nstallaton of such systems. 32

Functonal descrpton The RADEMACHER Intellgent seres of tubular motors are desgned for openng and closng roller shutters and awnngs. RolloTube Intellgent tubular motors are equpped wth the new Safe-Drve system for poston detecton, torque montorng and obstacle detecton. The drve's compact desgn and fully automatc end pont confguraton ensures for straghtforward and convenent nstallaton. The RolloTube Intellgent mpresses n daly operaton wth automatc roller shutter compensaton as well as the blockage and obstacle detecton system (wth reversng functon), ensurng maxmum safety and gentle operaton. Overvew of functons: Commssonng wth a sngle run command. Self-learnng motor wth fully automatc end pont confguraton. Safe-Drve method for precse postonng, torque montorng and obstacle detecton. Blockage and obstacle detecton ncludng reversng functon Obstacle detecton can be arbtrarly confgured thanks to the new snap-n FlexClck system. Mantenance free end pont thanks to automatc roller shutter compensaton. Quck and easy nstallaton thanks to the new shorter desgn. Optonally avalable: Unversal RT ConfgTool for ndvdual confguraton of the motor parameters. Blockage detecton functon The tubular motor stops and automatcally shfts nto the opposte drecton (reversng) n the event that an obstacle s detected whle openng (e.g. f a roller shutter s ced-up). Do not move ced-up roller shutters and rectfy the fault or remove the obstacle. Obstacle detecton functon The tubular motor stops and automatcally shfts brefly n the opposte drecton (reversng) n the event that the roller shutter hts an obstacle whle closng. The reversng mechansm after obstacle detecton can be swtched on / off f necessary, please refer to page 48. Requrements for correct obstacle detecton: The catch wth freewheel mechansm must be mounted (see Fg. 4.a, page 36). The roller shutter must be mounted to the rotatng unon wth the fastenng sprngs or wth the fxed shaft connector. Roller shutters must always run vertcally n the gude rals of the wndow. Functon of the shutter length compensaton system The shutter length compensaton system s actve subsequent to every automatc learnng process for the upper end pont. Afterwards, the tubular motor no longer runs fully aganst the upper end pont n order to protect the roller shutters and the end ponts. For example, sezed roller shutters can cause the automatcally learned end ponts and runs to be changed over a perod of tme. In order to compensate for ths, the tubular motor perodcally runs automatcally to the upper and lower end ponts (the cycle for ths s confgured at the factory). The roller shutter compensaton system operates automatcally durng normal operaton, so that generally you wll not notce t. If the upper end pont s manually confgured, then the roller shutter compensaton system s nactve. 33

Important assembly nstructons Check that the voltage / frequency on the type plate corresponds to local mans condtons pror to nstallaton. All cables and equpment not requred for operaton of the equpment s to be removed or deactvated pror to nstallaton of the tubular motor. Movng drve parts to be operated at a heght under 5 m from the floor must be protected. If the tubular motor s to be controlled wth a swtch wth a default OFF settng, then the swtch s to be postoned n the lne of sght of the tubular motor and at a heght of at least 5 m. The cover of the roller shutter box must be freely accessble and removable. Never dsmantle the stopper from the fnal roller shutter lamella. Otherwse the roller shutters may slp through nto the roller shutter box and be damaged. Only use tubular motors whch correspond to the local condtons n terms of ther power. Incorrectly dmensoned tubular motors can lead to damage. Incorrectly dmensoned drves and counter bearngs can cause the roller shutter system to be damaged. Only use orgnal bearngs suppled by the manufacturer. Thrd-party drves and counter bearngs must be selected n accordance wth the torque specfcatons of the respectve tubular motors. Rsk of njury n the event of ncorrect nstallaton (mpact njures and contusons). The motor can eject from the drve bearng n the event of ncorrect nstallaton/ fastenng. Fasten the tubular motor wth the securng devces provded. Mortal danger n the event of operaton wthout confgured end ponts. The end ponts must be confgured n order to ensure safe operaton. In order to do so, please refer to the correspondng chapter n ths manual provded on page 43. CAUTION Installng the tubular motor at an angle can cause the tubular motor or roller shutters to be damaged. For example, roller shutters wound at an angle can block the drve and cause damage. Always ensure that the tubular motors and bearngs are mounted horzontally. Please ensure that the rotatng unon (5) and the roller shutters (17) run smoothly and freely downwards after nstallaton. The roller shutters (17) may not run over the bearng, the bearng capsule (4) or the drve head (12) durng operaton. Ensure that the rotatng unon (5) and the fastenng sprngs (6) of the drve (9) do not touch. They may not rub aganst the tubular motor (9) durng operaton. For automatcally actuated awnngs: A mnmum gap of 0.4 m to other parts n the area must be mantaned when the awnng s fully extended. Awnngs used n an awnng system must mantan a mnmum heght of 8 m. Installaton of the tubular motor The followng nstallaton nstructons apply to standard nstallaton stuatons n combnaton wth RADEMACHER tubular motors and accessores. The drve head (12) of the motor can be nstalled on ether the rght or left sdes of the roller shutter box. These nstructons depct the nstallaton on the rght-hand sde. Requred mnmum wdth for the roller shutter box: Tubular motor type: Small Medum Mnmum wdth approx.: 56 cm 67 cm 34

Mountng the bearng (Fgure ) Check that the bearng s nstalled horzontally. Roller shutters wound at an angle can block the drve and cause damage. When nstalled, the wound roller shutter must run vertcally n the gude rals on the wndow. Frst determne the poston of the drve (13) and counter bearng (1) n the roller shutter box. Wnd the roller shutter casng fully onto the rotatng unon and measure dameter D. See fgure n order to determne the poston of the centre of the bearng to the gude ral. Fasten the bearng n accordance wth the bearng type and on-ste condtons. Mount the drve bearng (13) so that the set button (11) wll be easly accessble and the motor cable can be lad wthout knkng. Check that the bearng s nstalled horzontally. Roller shutters wound at an angle can block the drve and cause damage. Determne the length of the rotatng unon (Fgure ) Measure the wall gap of the drve bearng (13) and counter bearng (1) as shown. Measure the roller shutter box and calculate the requred shaft length (L). Length of the rotatng unon: L = A - (B + C) B C B = C = Counter bearng / Bearng capsule Drve end bearng / motor 3. Shorten the rotatng unon (5) to the requred sze. Cut the shaft to sze wth a hacksaw at a rght-angle. Remove the burrs from the shaft nternally and externally wth a fle. Mountng / dsmountng the adapter (Fgure ) Mountng the adapter (10) Slde the adapter (10) over the lmt rng (18) on the drve head untl t engages. Dsmantlng the adapter (10) Press the two retanng sprngs on the lmt rng (18) downwards and pull the adapter (10) off of the lmt rng (18). 35

Mountng the catch wth freewheel mechansm (Fgure ) * * = suppled state 4.a (19) (8) If the tubular motor s to be operated wth automatc end pont confguraton and obstacle detecton, then the catch (8) must be mounted wth free-wheelng acton. Slde the catch (8) onto the lmt rng (19) so that t can free-wheel and so that t engages behnd the retanng clp (7). Free-wheelng s gven f the catch (8) can be easly turned back and forth. (7) Mountng the catch wthout freewheel mechansm (Fgure ) 4.b (8) (19) Slde the catch (8) onto the lmt rng (19) so that t cannot free-wheel and so that t engages behnd the retanng clp (7). If the catch (8) s mounted wthout the freewheel mechansm, then the tubular motor wll work wthout obstacle detecton and wthout automatc end pont confguraton. It may be necessary to mount the catch (8) wthout the freewheel mechansm for very lghtweght roller shutters or for roller shutters whch do not drop easly, n order to avod premature swtch-off. Dsmountng the catch (Fgure ) 4.c Press the sde parts of the retanng clp (7) together and pull the catch (8) off of the drve adapter (19). (7) (8) (19) 36

Sldng the tubular motor nto the rotatng unon (Fgure ) STOP Never knock the motor (9) wth force nto the rotatng unon (5). Dong so wll cause serous damage. Frst slde the catch (8) nto the rotatng unon (5). The motor (9) must have suffcent free space for rotatng unons wth nternal felt. Subsequently, press the rotatng unon (5) fully onto the adapter (10). In dong so, ensure that the adapter (10) does not slp off of the lmt rng (18) on the drve head (12) durng the assembly process. Otherwse malfunctons may occur, see page 49. Preparaton for use of precson tubes (Fgures - ) Please only use precson tubes made from alumnum. The followng steps can be left out when usng octagonal steel shafts. 5.a ALUMINIUM Measure the dstance between the adapter (10) and the rear thrd of the catch (8) and mark ths dstance on the precson tube. RolloTube Intellgent Small 5.b 1 Saw a groove n the end of the precson tube 1 n order that the cam 2 of the adapter (10) can be completely pressed nto the tube. There may not be any play between the groove 1 and the cam The dmensons for groove 1 are dependent on the tubular motor type used, see llustratons. 5.c RolloTube Intellgent Medum 1 37

Preparaton for use of precson tubes (Fgures - ) 5.d 3. Slde the tubular motor nto the precson tube. 5.e 4. Place a fastenng sprng (6) every 40 cm nto the rectangular holes of the rotatng unon (5). Operatng the equpment wthout a stopper may cause the roller shutters to run nto the roller shutter box and be damaged. The roller shutters must always be ftted wth a stopper or end-ral. a For SW 40 rotatng unons (wth external groove) use hook-n brackets (20) n order to mount the fastenng sprngs (6); see fgure. Mountng the roller shutter stopper or an end-ral (Fgure 9) 9 Automatcally settng the end ponts wthout a stopper (21) or operatng the equpment wthout a stopper (21) may cause the roller shutters to run nto the roller shutter box and be damaged. The roller shutters (17) must always be ftted wth a stopper (21) or end-ral. For ths reason, always mount the respectve part before commssonng (see example n fgure 9). (21) The llustraton shows a roller shutter wth external stoppers (21), whch are nstalled on the rals. 39

Safety nformaton regardng the electrcal connecton Danger due to electrc shock when workng on all electrcal systems. The electrcal connecton for the tubular motor and all work on the electrcal systems may only be undertaken by an authorsed qualfed electrcan and n accordance wth the connecton dagrams n these nstructons. Dsconnect all poles from the mans and secure them aganst unntentonal reconnecton. Check that the system s dead. Always undertake mountng and connecton work wth the equpment dsconnected from the mans power. Fxed-nstallaton devces......must be equpped on the nstallaton sde wth a crcut-breaker for each phase n accordance wth DIN VDE Swtches wth a contact openng wdth of mn. 3 mm can be used as crcut-breakers (e.g. power swtch, power crcut breaker or resdualcurrent-operated crcut-breaker). Rsk of short-crcut resultng from water n the event of mproper cablng. Never lay the motor cable (15) vertcally upwards, as otherwse water may collect on the cable and run nto the motor, leadng to damage. Lay the cable n a loop. The loop wll cause any water on the cable to collect at the lowest pont, from where t can dran off. Rsk of short-crcut resultng from damaged cable. Lay all cables n the roller shutter box so that they cannot be damaged by movng machnery. The mans connecton for the drve may only be connected wth the same conducton type. Consult customer servces f necessary. STOP The motor cable (Fgure j) 10 (11) Feed the motor cable (15) nto the desgnated juncton box or termnal box after hookng the motor n place. If the set lead (j) s connected to an external button (see above), you wll be able to use ths button as a set button for confgurng the end ponts. Feed the set lne (j) for the motor cable (15) to the desgnated swtchng pont (e.g. up to the swtch socket). (22) Use of the set lne (j) for ntal nstallaton For ntal nstallaton, the roller shutter engneer can connect the motor cable (15) to a commercally avalable cord swtch devce (22) n order to confgure the end ponts for the tubular motors. Observe the varous confguraton optons for the end ponts on page 43. Use of the set lne (j) for subsequent modfcaton of the end ponts: If you want to subsequently modfy the end ponts for an exstng roller shutter nstallaton, then you must commsson an electrcan to connect the set lead (j) n accordance wth the connecton dagram m to a commercally avalable button (230 V/50 Hz). You wll then be able to use ths button and your roller shutter controller to modfy the end ponts. Use of the set lne (j) after confguraton of the end ponts: The respectve external swtch must be dsconnected agan after the end ponts are confgured and the motor connecton must be confgured n accordance wth connecton dagram k. The set lead (j) must be connected to neutral (f) after confguraton of the end ponts. 17 End pont adjustment Mortal danger due to tearng off the motor cable (15). Ensure that the motor cable (15) s not taken up by the rotatng unon (5) or torn off durng the confguraton process. You have varous optons for confgurng the end ponts, whch are descrbed n the followng secton: Automatc confguraton of the end ponts. Manual confguraton of the end ponts: - Manually settng the upper end pont and settng the lower end pont by means of obstacle detecton. - Settng the upper end pont by means of blockage detecton and manually settng the lower end pont. - Manually settng the upper end pont and lower end pont. Important relatonshp between the confguraton of the lower end pont and nstallaton of the catch. If the catch s mounted wthout the freewheel mechansm, then the tubular motor wll not swtch off automatcally, as t wll not detect an obstacle and the lower end pont wll not be detected. If the catch s mounted wth the freewheel mechansm, then the tubular motor wll swtch off automatcally as soon as the freewheel travel s overcome and the roller shutter lamella are closed. Operatng the equpment wthout a stopper (21) may cause the roller shutters to run nto the roller shutter box and be damaged. The roller shutters must always be ftted wth a stopper (21) or end-ral. End ponts must be set n order to swtch off the motor when they are reached for both drectons of travel up (s) /down (t). The tubular motor must be fully nstalled. There must be a sutably fxed lmt (e.g. wndow sll) n the area of the lower end pont f the end pont s to be confgured automatcally. The set lead (j) must be connected to neutral (f) after confguraton of the end ponts. Automatc confguraton of the end ponts Ths factory settng can be used n order to automatcally search for and confgure the end ponts for the tubular motor. In the event that the end pont confguraton fals, you must reset the tubular motor to the factory settng (see page 47), n order to repeat the process. Requrements for automatc confguraton of the end ponts: The catch (8) must be mounted wth the freewheel mechansm actvated (see Fgure 4.a, page 36). The tubular motor may not be dsconnected from the mans durng the automatc end pont confguraton process. The mans connecton must be ensured contnuously. Frst move the roller shutters upwards. In order to do so, dependng on the tubular motor nstallaton stuaton, press the up (s) button or down (t) button for the tubular motor. Important a) Frst move the roller shutter upwards when automatcally adjustng the end ponts. If the roller shutters frst move downwards, then the drecton of travel must frst be reversed. The roller shutters wll travel to the upper lmt pont and swtch off brefly. 3. Afterwards, the tubular motor wll reverse and the roller shutters wll move downwards. 4. As soon as the roller shutters are fully closed, the tubular motor swtches off automatcally. The poston of the roller shutters wll be stored as the lower end pont. 5. Subsequently, the roller shutters wll travel up agan and then swtch off. Ths poston wll be stored as the upper end pont. mportant b) The roller shutter should reman at the upper end pont followng automatc adjustment. c) The end ponts cannot be correctly adjusted f the two condtons a) (see Pont 1) and b) are not met. In ths case, reset the tubular motor to ts factory settngs (refer to page 47) and repeat the process. The roller shutters wll be protected durng standard operatons, due to the fact that they wll not be tensoned by knockng aganst the stopper. 6. Fnally, dsconnect the tubular motor from the mans for a few seconds. Subsequently, the tubular motor s ready for operaton. The set lead (j) must be connected to neutral (f) after confguraton of the end ponts. 43

Manual adjustment of end ponts Intal nstallaton For ntal nstallaton, the roller shutter engneer can carry out the end pont confguraton wth the help of the set button (11) on the motor or wth a commercally avalable cord swtch devce (22). Further nformaton can be obtaned from the cord swtch devce operatng nstructons. Subsequent modfcaton of the end ponts wth external controllers If you want to subsequently modfy the end ponts for your tubular motor, you can use an external swtch as set button, as prevously shown, or you can use your roller shutter controller (e.g. Troll Comfort) n order to readjust the endponts. Key assgnment on cord swtch devce (22) Operatng the equpment wthout a stopper (21) may cause the roller shutters to run nto the roller shutter box and be damaged. The roller shutters must always be ftted wth a stopper (21) or end-ral. End ponts must be set n order to swtch off the motor when they are reached for both drectons of travel up (s) / down (t). In order to do so, the tubular motor must be fully nstalled. Never dsmantle the stopper from the fnal roller shutter lamella. The roller shutter box must be opened and the set button (11) on the tubular motor must be freely accessble. Do not allow the shutters to knock aganst the mechancal stops and mantan a safety gap of 2-3 cm. SET Set button Change drecton of travel (s/t) STOP Rsk of crushng njures to the hand when workng wth the roller shutter box open. Never reach nto the area of the rotatng unon when the motor s runnng.
