ABOUT THE RACK-3000G The 4U, heavy-duty steel RACK-3000G AT/ATX cmpatible rackmunt industrial chassis is designed t perate reliably in industrial envirnments where it will be expsed t dust, wide temperature variatins, and shcks and vibratins, amng ther things. 3 INSTALLATION STEPS T install the RACK-3000G chassis, the fllwing installatin steps must be cmpleted. Step 6: Step 7: Step 8: Step 9: Step 10: Step 11: Unpack the chassis. Remve the tp cver and hld-dwn clamp. Install the PSU. Install the backplane. Install the CPU card. Install the PCI and ISA expansin cards. Install the internal HDD. Install the disk drives. Cnnect the cables. Cnnect PSU cable and interface cable. Install the frnt handles. Figure 3: Remve the Tp Cver STEP 2.2: HOLD-DOWN CLAMP REMOVAL Detach the hld-dwn clamp by remving the tw retentin screws lcated n each side f the chassis and lift the hld-dwn clamp ff the chassis. Step 12: Reinstall the hld-dwn clamp and the tp cver. The installatin steps utlined abve are described in detail belw. Please refer t the relevant sectin. STEP 1: UNPACK The RACK-3000G is shipped in a plastic bag that is placed inside a cardbard bx. When the chassis is unpacked, make sure All the items listed in the PACKING LIST sectin are present. The chassis has nt been damaged in anyway. STEP 2: TOP COVER AND HOLD-DOWN CLAMP REMOVAL STEP 2.1: REMOVE THE TOP COVER The tp cver is secured by six retentin screws n bth sides, three n each side, f the chassis. T remve the tp cver, fllw the steps belw: Remve all six tp cver retentin screws. Remve three retentin screws frm each side f the chassis. Figure 4: Hld-Dwn Clamp Retentin Screws STEP 3: INSTALL THE POWER SUPPLY UNIT (PSU) Once the tp cver and hld-dwn clamp have been remved, the PSU must be installed. Cmpatible IEI PSUs are listed in table 2 n page 4. The PSU is installed at the rear f the chassis and secured t the chassis with six retentin screws. T install the PSU, please fllw the steps belw. Munt the PSU at the rear f the chassis. Make sure the pwer scket and the PSU fan face utwards. T secure the PSU t the chassis, insert six retentin screws, fur rear retentin screws and tw internal retentin screws. Install a redundant PSU at the rear f the chassis. Make sure bth the pwer scket and the PSU fans face the rear f the chassis. T secure the redundant PSU t the chassis, reinsert the fur previusly remved PSU frame retentin screws. Figure 6: PSU Internal Retentin Screws The RACK-3000G chassis can als supprt a redundant PSU. T install a redundant PSU, fllw the steps utlined belw: Remve the PSU frame by remving the fur retentin screws frm the rear f the chassis. 5 STEP 5: CPU CARD INSTALLATION T install the CPU card please fllw the instructins belw. Remve the slt cver at the back f the chassis. T d this, remve the slt cver retentin screw at the tp f the slt cver. Figure 10: Cpper Pillars Insert tw plastic pillars int the tw hles reserved fr plastic pillars. Figure 14: Remve the Slt Cver Retentin Screw Slide a full-size CPU card int the scket n the backplane reserved fr the CPU card. Make sure the back edge f the CPU card slts int the crrespnding card guide lcated behind the cling fans. Figure 11: Plastic Pillars Munt the backplane nt the nine cpper pillars and the tw plastic pillars. Make sure the tw plastic pillars are installed int the crrespnding hles in the backplane. Figure 15: Slide the CPU Card int the Sckets T secure the CPU card, reinsert the previusly remved slt cver retentin screw. If the installed PSU is ATX PSU, cnnect the backplane-t-cpu card ATX cable t the backplane and the CPU card t enable the ATX PSU. Figure 13: Backplane Retentin Screws Figure 16: Backplane-t-CPU Card ATX Cable STEP 6: PCI/ISA EXPANSION CARD INSTALLATION The RACK-3000G supprts up t thirteen PCI/ISA expansin cards with backplane rear panel, seven with mtherbard rear panel. If yu wish t install a PCI expansin card r an ISA expansin card please fllw the instructins belw. Remve the slt cver at the back f the chassis. T d this, remve the slt cver retentin screw at the tp f the slt cver. RACK-3000G QIG IEI Technlgy Crp. Page 5

6 Slide the PCI/ISA expansin card int reserved PCI/ISA scket n the backplane/mtherbard. T secure the PCI/ISA expansin card, reinsert the previusly remved slt cver retentin screw. The drive bracket is secured t the frnt, n the right, f the chassis. T remve the drive bracket, fllw the steps belw: Step 7: Remve the fur drive bracket retentin screws, tw frm the frnt and tw frm the right side at the bttm f the drive bracket. STEP 7: INTERNAL HDD INSTALLATION The RACK-3000G chassis supprts an internal HDD n the tp f the fan bracket. T install an internal HDD, fllw the steps belw: Remve the tw internal HDD clamps by remving the fur HDD clamp retentin screws, tw fr each clamp. Figure 20: Drive Bracket Retentin Screws n the Right Side f the Drive Bracket Align the HDD retentin screw hles with the retentin screw hles in the tw HDD clamps. Make sure bth clamps are aligned with each ther, s that bth clamps can be reinstalled later in the prcedure. Insert fur retentin screws, tw int each side f the HDD t secure the HDD clamps t the HDD. Step 8: Slide the drive bracket backwards and lift it up gently. STEP 8.2: OPTICAL DRIVE INSTALLATION The RACK-3000G chassis can supprt up t three ptical drives. T install a 5.25 drive int the drive bracket, please fllw the steps belw. Remve the drive bracket. T d this, please refer t STEP 8.1: DRIVE BRACKET REMOVAL. Remve the 3.5 drive bay frnt cver n the left side f the drive bracket by remving tw retentin screws, ne n each side f the 3.5 drive bay. Figure 18: Internal HDD Clamp Retentin Screws Munt the internal HDD n the tp f the fan bracket. Make sure the pwer scket and the IDE/SATA cnnectrs face the right side f the chassis. Step 6: Reinstall bth HDD clamps and reinsert the fur previusly remved HDD clamp retentin screws. 7 the pwer cnnectr and the IDE/SATA cnnectr face the rear f the bracket. Align the 3.5 FDD retentin screw hles with the retentin screw hles in the 3.5 drive bay. Make sure the frnt f the FDD is aligned with the frnt f the drive bracket. T secure the 3.5 FDD insert fur retentin screws. Figure 22: 5.25"Drive Bay Frnt Cver Retentin Screws Slide a 5.25 ptical drive int the 5.25 drive bay making sure bth the pwer cnnectr and the IDE/SATA cnnectr face the rear f the chassis. Insert fur retentin screws, tw int each side f the drive bay t secure the 5.25 ptical drive. Figure 26: FDD Retentin Screws T install a 3.5 HDD, fllw the steps belw. NOTE: When 3.5 HDDs are installed, the frnt cvers f the 3.5 drive bays d nt need t be remved. Figure 23: 5.25"Optical Drive Retentin Screws STEP 8.3: FDD/HDD INSTALLATION T install a 3.5 FDD, fllw the steps belw. Munt a 3.5 HDD nt the 3.5 drive bay. Make sure bth the pwer scket and the IDE/SATA cnnectrs face the rear f the chassis. Align the 3.5 HDD retentin screw hles with the retentin screw hles in the 3.5 drive bay. Remve the drive bracket. T d this, please refer t STEP 8.1: DRIVE BRACKET REMOVAL. T secure the 3.5 HDD, insert fur retentin screws, tw int each side f the 3.5 HDD. Remve the 3.5 drive bay frnt cver by remving the tw retentin screws, ne frm each side. Figure 27: HDD Retentin Screws Figure 24: Tp 3.5"Drive Bay Frnt Cver Retentin Screws STEP 8.4: DRIVE BRACKET REINSTALLATION After the disk drives have been prperly installed int the drive brackets, reinstall the drive brackets int the chassis. T reinstall the drive brackets int the chassis please fllw the steps belw. Place the main drive bracket int the chassis. Make sure the frnt f the drives face ut f the chassis, the pwer cnnectrs and IDE/SATA interface cnnectrs all face the rear f the chassis, and the tw clips at the bttm f the bracket slides int the bracket at the base f the chassis. 8 STEP 10: PSU CABLE AND INTERFACE CABLE CONNECTIONS T cnnect the pwer and ribbn cables please fllw the instructins belw. Cnnect the PSU cables frm the PSUs t the backplane, full-size CPU card, HDD, FDD, cling fans and ptical drives pwer cnnectr. Figure 28: Bttm Clips f the Drive Bracket The drive interface cnnectrs must be cnnected t the CPU card. STEP 11: FRONT HANDLE INSTALLATION Tw handles are shipped with the RACK-3000G chassis. The handles are installed n the sides, at the frnt f the chassis. Each handle is secured t the chassis by fur retentin screws. T install the handles, please fllw the steps belw. Align the retentin screw hles n the side f the chassis with the retentin screw hles in the handle. Figure 29: Bracket at the Base f the Chassis Insert fur retentin screws fr each handle. Secure the drive bracket int the chassis by reinserting the fur previusly remved retentin screws. STEP 9: CABLING The RACK-3000G has the fllwing cmpnents accessible at the frnt: 1 x Pwer LED 1 x HDD LED 1 x Pwer switch 1 x Reset buttn These cmpnents are all cnnected t the CPU card with cables. T crrectly cnnect these cables, please refer t the technical dcumentatin that came with yur CPU card. The cnnectrs are listed belw: N. 1 1 Pwer LED cable Name Figure 30: Frnt Handle Retentin Screws STEP 12: HOLD-DOWN CLAMP AND TOP COVER REINSTALLATION On the cmpletin f the abve prcedures, the hld-dwn clamp and cver can be reinstalled. T d this, align the screw hles n bth ends f the hld-dwn clamp with the screw hles n bth sides f the chassis and reinsert the fur previusly remved retentin screws. After that, slide the cver back ver the chassis and reinsert the six previusly remved retentin screws. CHASSIS MAINTENANCE Fan Replacement 1 Reset Switch cable NOTE: Please ensure that the pwer f the cmputer is switched ff befre fan replacement prcedure. 1 HDD LED cable There are tw 8 cm cling fans inside the RACK-3000G chassis. T replace a fan, please fllw the steps belw. Open the frnt panel. (Please refer t STEP 2: TOP COVER AND HOLD-DOWN CLAMP REMOVAL) Pwer switch cable Table 4: Chassis Cnnectrs Remve the fan bracket securing the fan yu want t replace by lsening the tw thumbscrews n the upper right and lwer left f the fan bracket. 9 Cabinet Installatin Supprting rails, rack trays, r slide rails can be implemented using the fur munting hles n the sides f the chassis. The eight munting hles in the tw handles n the sides f the chassis are shwn belw. Figure 31: Fan Bracket Thumbscrews Unplug the pwer cable that is cnnected t the fan. Figure 34: Fur Munting Hles NOTE: If the system is running critical applicatins, please find the apprpriate time t backup data and prperly shut dwn the system. RACK-3000GATX Installatin IEI als ffers the RACK-3000GATX chassis that is cmpatible with mtherbards. Figure 32: Discnnect the Fan Cnnectr Step 6: Remve the fur retentin screws in each f the fur crners f the fan that must be replaced. Replace the fan and secure the new fan t the bracket with the fur previusly remved retentin screws. Reinstall fan bracket int the chassis and secure the fan bracket t the chassis with the previusly lsened thumbscrews. Fan Filter Replacement T replace the fan filter, please fllw the steps belw. Open the frnt panel. Remve the fur thumbscrews n the fan filter bracket. The cmpatible IEI mtherbards are listed in Table 4 belw: Frm Factr Mdel N. 11 Step 8: T secure the I/O cnnectrs t the I/O cnnectr bracket, insert six cpper pillars, tw fr each I/O cnnectr.
