Prduct Overview The VIA AMOS-820 industrial system is an ultra-cmpact slutin designed t take full advantage f the super pwer-efficient, ARM based Pic-ITX bard, making it easy t create a brad spectrum f easy t assemble, fanless system designs fr a wide variety f industrial autmatin, transprtatin, HMI, and energy management applicatins. A cmpletely fanless system measuring 150.5mm (W) x 48.1mm (H) x 103.3mm (D), the AMOS-820 features a ruggedized design able t withstand a wide perating temperature range f -20 C up t 70 C while ffering extremely lw pwer cnsumptin under typical peratin. On-bard strage includes 4GB f emmc Flash and can be expanded thrugh ne Micr SD card. In additin, an ptinal minipcie slt is prvided fr 3G/Wi-Fi cnnectivity. Cmprehensive I/O functins n frnt and back panels make the AMOS-820 a flexible slutin fr a wide range f embedded applicatins. External I/O Pin Descriptins and Functinality AMOS-820 User Manual This chapter prvides infrmatin abut the AMOS-820 s external I/O prts, LED indicatrs and their functinality DC-In Jack The AMOS-820 cmes with a 2-ple Phenix DC jack n the frnt panel that carries 12V DC external pwer input. 17 2.3. LED Indicatr There are tw LEDs n the frnt panel f the AMOS-820 that indicate the status f the system: Pwer LED is green and indicates the status f the system s pwer. 20 2.8. Audi Jack AMOS-820 User Manual There are three audi jack receptacles n the frnt panel. Each receptacle can fit a 3.5 mm Tip Ring Sleeve (TRS) cnnectr enables cnnectin t Line-in, Line-ut and Mic-in. The Line-in jack is fr cnnecting an external audi device such as CD player, tape player and etc. The Line-ut jack is fr cnnecting t external speakers r headphnes. The Mic-in jack is fr cnnecting t a micrphne. 22 2.12. HDMI Prt AMOS-820 User Manual The integrated 19-pin HDMI prt uses an HDMI Type A receptacle cnnectr defined in HDMI specificatin. The HDMI prt is used t cnnect high definitin vide and digital audi using a single cable. It allws cnnecting the digital vide devices which utilize a high definitin vide signal. 25 4. Hardware Installatin This chapter prvides infrmatin abut hardware installatin prcedures. It is recmmended t use a grunded wrist strap befre handling cmputer cmpnents. Electrstatic discharge (ESD) can damage sme cmpnents Installing the Micr SD Card Step 1 Lcate the bttm access cver f the chassis. Lsen the screw t remve the bttm access cver. Figure 21: Remving the bttm access cver Step 2 Gently slide the Micr SD card int the card slt reader with the label side facing dwn then press the card until it lcks int place. 26 Nte: T remve the Micr SD card, press the card t disengage frm the slt reader then gently pull ut the card. 18

27 4.2. Installing the 3G/Wi-Fi Kit Step 1 Align the ntch n the 3G/Wi-Fi mdule with the prtruding wedge n the minipcie slt then insert the mdule at 30 angle. Figure 23: Installing 3G/Wi-Fi mdule Step 2 Once the mdule has been fully inserted, push dwn the mdule until the screw hles align with the standff hles. Then secure the mdule with screws. 28 Step 3 Lsen the thirteen screws f the frnt, back and bttm plates. Figure 25: Remving frnt, back and bttm plate screws Step 4 Carefully pull the back panel plate and the tp cver chassis. Then remve the antenna hle cver. Figure 26: Pulling ut back panel plate and antenna hle cver 20

29 Step 5 Insert the 3G/Wi-Fi antenna cable int the antenna hle frm the inside f the back panel plate. Insert the washer, fasten it with the nut, and install the antenna. Then pull the ther end f the antenna cables and insert them t the available space ging dwn t the bttm side f the bard. Stretch the cables ut t reach the installed 3G/Wi-Fi mdule. 31 4.3. Installing the Rubber Feet AMOS-820 User Manual Step 1 Lcate the area where t install the rubber feet. Step 2 Attach carefully each rubber ft. Firmly press it dwn t ensure the rubber ft is prperly in place. Figure 30: Installing the rubber feet 23

32 4.4. Munting the AMOS-820 system The AMOS-820 system has multiple munting ptins. Using fur munting screws, the AMOS-820 system can be munted n walls, tables r any flat surface suitable fr munting. Reminders: 1. Make sure t remve the rubber feet befre munting the AMOS-820 system. The rubber feet are nt required when munting the system n walls r tables. 2. D nt use ther types f screws n munting the AMOS-820 system aside frm the prvided screws t avid any damages. Step 1 Find a suitable surface t munt the AMOS-820 system. Step 2 Drill fur hles and ensure the diameters are perfectly matched with the AMOS-820 munting hles and screws. Step 3 Install the AMOS-820 system and secure it with fur screws. 24
