This has been imprved t eliminate issues which may ccur when transferring data and using the serial prt t manage and mnitr the FastStream. SATA drive multiple retry With NCQ, the Frce Unit Access (FUA) parameter is nt hnred, if this bit was nt cleared prperly drives culd drp ffline fr n reasn. FUA functinality has been imprved t prevent SATA drives frm ging ffline in this case. Versin 3.80 (Released 12/11/09) DriveAssure implemented. If there is zning n the fabric when the new cde is flashed nt a FastStream, re-zning will be needed. The SC 5500 supprt 64 devices and the 5300/5700 supprt 32 devices. Added RAID 6 Parity Prtectin this adds an extra layer f reliability t an already reliable RAID stack. Rebuilds with RAID 6, as with RAID 5 d nt affect available bandwidth t streaming (large blck size) applicatins. RAID 6 is nt available n the FastStream SC 5300 r 5700 mdels. Imprved Media Errr Handling Feature which accunts fr variances in physical media reallcates unusable sectrs during I/O withut impacting perfrmance. Advanced/Express RAID Initializatin This feature allws yu t chse an express initializatin t start I/O immediately after creating RAID grups. This feature is nt recmmended fr new drives, best practice is t Init and Verify drives first. Cnfiguratin Clning This feature has tw uses, ne, allwing yu t clne yur current cnfiguratin in the event that a FastStream cntrller needs replacement. All settings include the WWN can be updated t a new cntrller t minimize dwntime. The secnd use invlves clning a cnfiguratin t use n multiple cntrllers. SES Management and Mnitring (fr SAS and FC Strage) The ExpressNAV Strage Manager will prvide mnitring and phne hme ntificatins fr strage enclsures with an SES Prcessr. Tape Device Supprt Yu may attach Streaming Devices (Tape Drives, Optical Drives) behind a FastStream Strage Cntrller and access them n yur SAN in additin t yur disk strage. Tape Device Supprt is nt available n the FastStream SC Supprt fr 4Kb sectr size RAID grups this is a user cnfigurable ptin where yu may set the sectr size anywhere frm 512B t 4Kb. Using larger sectr sizes allw large vlume supprt (Greater than 2TB). Imprved Perfrmance End User applicatins culd see n average up t a 5% imprvement in perfrmance. Imprved Hst Management Feature which allws custmers with a requirement fr strage access by a large number f hsts t maximize perfrmance in their envirnment. 8 3. Knwn Issues/Advisements When using strage enclsures with LSI 12 prt daisy-chained expanders, supprt is currently limited t tw levels f expanders. This issue des nt ccur with ther expander manufacturers. When using Internet Explrer 7 r 8 in Windws 2008 Server, javascript is disabled by default. The ExpressNAV Strage Manager requires this functinality t be enabled in the brwser r else the buttns will nt respnd. Please enable within the security settings f IE7 and IE8. Seagate Barracuda AS Gen 11 disk drives are intended fr desktp use. These drives are NOT recmmended fr use with the ATTO FastStream at this time. Affected mdels include ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS, ST AS and ST AS. Please visit ATTO r Seagate's website fr mre infrmatin and ptential drive firmware updates. When cnnecting wide-prted SAS devices (RAID Arrays) t the FastStream, perfrmance will be limited t the bandwidth single PHY per SAS cnnectin (300 MB/sec). This issue des nt ccur when using JBOD strage with the FastStream When replacing the SAS cable n the 5500/7500/8500 mdels, drives may nt shw up in the ExpressNAV Strage Manager. Please pwer cycle the strage and FastStream t see attached drives. When using nline capacity expansin, individual drives n the Health and Status Mnitr page will shw up as CONVRT 0% instead f nline; drives and RAID grups will be nline and accessible. A rebt f the FastStream will clear this status. BlckDevIdentify cmmand des nt wrk crrectly fr Fujitsu drives. Strange characters may be displayed n the finddevices.html ExpressNAV page ID strings are nt prperly terminated. 4.
