4 INTRODUCTION The cmbinatin f XFly and XFly Streamer allws bradcasters t benefit frm a simple tl by quickly transferring all camera angles t a pst-prductin facility. The marriage f these tw systems ffers a zer cnfiguratin tl with the required sftware and hardware t stream effrtlessly all camera angles n a prtable strage device that can be plugged int a pst-prductin facility and easily accessed n the spt by editrs. 5 XFLY STREAMER - VALUE PROPOSITION The idea is t make lighter and quicker the delivery f a cmplete prductin t a pst-prductin facility. The slutin prvides all the necessary hardware and sftware t stream in a very easily way all the camera angles in ne single bx which can be transprted fr pst-prductin editing. Just plug and play the bx in a standard Ethernet netwrk and editrs can begin their jb. 6 HARDWARE DESCRIPTION XFly is a brand new cmpact and prtable strage platfrm intended fr extended live prductin peratins. The strage case enclses eight remvable standard SATA hard disk drives (2.5 inches) ffering up t 8TB strage with a maximum capacity f 140 hurs f HD at 100Mbps. This new prtable system is designed t ffer EVS XT/XS server series peratrs an easy way t back up clips and feeds. When live shting is cmpleted, the peratr can simply carry the entire prductin ftage; including prgram feed, multi-camera angles, best shts and highlights in a single strage case. Once in studi, XFly is simply plugged int Avid r FCP allwing editrs t immediately begin their creative tasks. OS AND SOFTWARE XFly perates under Windws 7 Pr Embedded X64. XTAccess is autmatically installed, alng with the fllwing utilities: Adbe Reader, XML Ntepad 2007 and Kasperski Antivirus. 9 PERFORMANCE The fllwing diagrams display XFly s perfrmance in prcessing multiple 90-minute backups frm XT native cdec t standard file wrappers such as EVSMXF, QT, OP1a SMPTE and AVID OPATOM. Imprtant nte: The XFly system has nt been designed t prcess multiple transcding jbs simultaneusly. In rder t sustain multiple real-time transfers as shwn in these perfrmance diagrams, we recmmend launching transcding jbs separately frm real-time cnstraints and nt t exceed fur jbs simultaneusly.

10 Only ne GBE Ethernet prt was cnfigured during these perfrmances tests. In rder t increase the number f simultaneus jbs, the netwrk cnfiguratin can be mdified by defining tw different VLANs r by cnfiguring a Teaming LACP.

11 SOFTWARE DESCRIPTION XFLY.STREAMER XFly.Streamer is an interface sftware dedicated t the backup f streams frm ne r several EVS vide servers (XT[2], XT[2]+, XT3, XS, XTnan). XFly.Streamer manages the backup and transfer f all streams selected by the peratr. XFly.Streamer acts as a user interface fr the backgrund running the XTAccess file transfer applicatin. XFly.Streamer sends its cmmands t XTAccess using XML jbs files.

XFly.Streamer and cmpnents installatin 2..NET framewrk 4.0 setup 3. XFly Register setup (detectin f XFly bx via Bnjur Prtcl)XTAccess installatin, even if already installed The installer autmatically sets up all sftware and cmpnents; therefre, n additinal setup is required. The lcal XTAccess sftware and its XFLY_Streamer_XML unit are autmatically launched and initiated at startup. The XFly.Streamer is then ready t perate. Nte: XFly.Streamer is dedicated fr installatin n XFLY hardware, but this sftware can als be installed n ther cmpatible PC systems. XFly.Streamer is validated with WIN7 64-bit/32-bit. QUICKSTART T start recrding, prceed as fllws: 1. The lcal XTAccess and its related XML unit are already launched and minimized in the task bar. 2. Click the XFly.Streamer shrtcut t launch the sftware. The screen will always appear as fllws:

14 3. Select the XFly hardware and prcessing device, i.e. XTAccess, frm the tw drpdwn lists in the upper left crner. If present, the lcal system and sftware always will appear at the tp f the list. 4. Set a server type t display the servers list:

15 5. Int the server list, click the arrw t display the list f available channels: The selected channel is nw displayed in the channel area with thumbnails generating a preview f the channel: 6. Repeat step 5 t select all desired channels. 7. If necessary, check and mdify the wrapper selected, the path t save the file, the frmat string fr autmatic file naming and/r the maximum duratin. 8. Click the REC cmmand t start recrding: The REC cmmand lights red and a red frame is displayed arund each channel. All selectins and settings are disabled during the recrding. 9. Click the STOP cmmand t stp recrding.

16 SOFTWARE RESTRICTIONS: XFly.streamer depends n the XTAccess engine and inherits all limitatins f XTAccess sftware. Installing the sftware requires Administratr rights and all new flders created need t be shared with full access rights. All backup servers need t be genlcked and cnnected t the same LTC reference. Maximum duratin fr recrding is limited t 300 minutes. Maximum number f simultaneus channels fr recrding is limited t 12. N transcding ptin available. Only rewrapping facilities. Only Lcal XTAccess (and strage) are cnfigured during installatin. If a remte XTAccess is necessary, please refer t the installatin sectin t manually set the REG keys and shared flders dedicated t XFly.Streamer peratins. Capacity infrmatin is nly available if the SNMP agent is cnfigured in the remte strage. FCP XML Metadata is nly available fr QT Mv and QT Ref. CamLabel infrmatin is nt available. Channels will disappear frm channel pane fllwing a lng peratin perid (mre than 24 hurs).
