4 4 1 Introducton Instructons Important nformaton and nstructons n ths documentaton are desgnated as follows: Danger Draws your attenton to an exceptonally grave, mpendng danger to your health or lfe. Warnng Indcates a hazardous stuaton that could lead to njures or materal damage. Attenton Draws attenton to possble dangers, materal damage or loss of qualty. Gves you tps. They make a workng sequence easer or draw attenton to mportant workng processes. Envronment Gves you tps on protectng the envronment. Handlng nstructon Reference to secton, poston, llustraton number or document. Opton (accessores, perpheral equpment, specal fttngs). 1.2 Intended Use The devce s manufactured n accordance wth the current technologcal status and the recognzed safety rules. However, danger to the lfe and lmb of the user or thrd partes and/or damage to the devce and other tangble assets can arse durng use. The devce may only be used for ts ntended purpose and f t s n perfect workng order, and t must be used wth regard to safety and dangers as stated n the operatng manual. The devce s to use only n combnaton wth a MACH4 label prnter. The devce s ntended exclusvely for rewndng sutable materals that have been approved by the manufacturer. Any other use or use gong beyond ths shall be regarded as mproper use. The manufacturer/suppler shall not be lable for damage resultng from unauthorzed use; the user shall bear the rsk alone. Usage for the ntended purpose also ncludes complyng wth the operatng manual, ncludng the manufacturer s mantenance recommendatons and specfcatons. 5 1 Introducton Safety Instructons The devce may only be used n a dry envronment, do not expose t to mosture (sprays of water, msts, etc.). Warnng Durng operaton, the rotatng parts of the devce are freely accessble. When workng on the devce wear tghtly fttng clothes and te up long har. Loosely hangng peces or long har can get caught n parts of the devce. Attenton Swtch off the devce n case of changng the turn drecton. Warnng Do not try to manpulate or repar parts they are not descrbed n the manuals of the external rewnder or the prnter. 1.4 Envronment Obsolete devces contan valuable recyclable materals that should be sent for recyclng. XX Send to sutable collecton ponts, separately from resdual waste. XX Send the parts for recyclng.

6 6 2 Product Descrpton Functon The External Rewnders are perpheral devces for transfer prnters MACH4,. Durng processng of large prnt jobs t s possble to take up and rewnd large label roles ndependently of the prnter. An adjustable gude axle ensures that the label strp s led horzontally from the prnter nto the rewnder. Contents of delvery: External Rewnder 2 Rewnd Adapters Plate Connecton Set Power Cable Documentaton Retan packng materal for later use 3.2 Mount the Connectng Set The connectng set s essental to get a defned and fxed poston of the external rewnder ER4/210 to the prnter MACH4. 1. Put the two gudngs (4) nto the sutable holes (5) on the bottom sde of the prnter. 2. On the connectng plate are two pns (2) mounted to put n the holes (1) at the feet of the external rewnder. 9 3 Start-Up Connectng to Power Supply The rewnder s equpped wth a wde range power unt ( V~), so t s possble to use the prnter both wth a voltage of 230V~/50 Hz and wth a voltage of 115V~/60 Hz wthout makng changes to the prnter. Make sure the power swtch (1) s n poston O (OFF) before connectng the prnter to a power supply When swtchng on the Rewnder starts mmedately wthout or wth loose materal Fgure 3 Power supply The rewnder s ready for use, f the power cable (3) suppled n the accessores s nserted nto a power supply connector (2) and the cable s contacted to a grounded outlet. 4 Algnment 4.1 Sghtng the External Rewnder to the Prnter The prnt an dspense of the label are orentated to the center at the MACH4 prnter. The poston of the rewnded labels at the external rewnder are orentated to the plate (2) sde of the rewnd axle. So t's essental to adjust the external rewnder to the prnter depend of label materal broadness. label materal wdth 1. Separate the external rewnder (1) from connectng set. 2. Loosen knurled nut (4). 3. Move connectng plate (3) up to the arrow are opposte the value (n mm) of the materal broadness. 4. Tghten knurled screw (4). 5. Put the external rewnder (1) on the connectng set ( 3.2 Mount the connectng set). 6. Put n label materal Fgure 4 Sghtng the external rewnder to the prnter

10 10 4 Algnment Selecton of the Rewnd Drecton The selecton of the rewnd drecton s depend of usng an nsde or outsde wound label. 1 Fgure 5 Drecton of rewndng XX Turn off the rewnder and set the swtch (1) to the requred drecton of rewndng: Rewndng wth labels nsde Rewndng wth labels outsde 4.3 Algnment the Gude Axle Depend of the used prnter the gude axle should be algned so, that the label strp s led horzontally from the prnter to the rewnder. 1. Loosen the gude axle (1) by turnng t counterclockwse. 2. Move t n the gude plate (2) up to the desred postonng. 3. Fasten the gude axle (1) by turnng t clockwse. 1 2 Fgure 6 Algnment the gude axle

11 5 Operaton Rewndng Drectly onto the Rewnd Axle Frst remove the sprng (2) from the rewnd axle Warnng Rsk of njury by rotatng engne parts. When swtchng on the Rewnder starts mmedately and wnds to the materal s tghtened Loosen the screws (1) and remove the sprng (2). Consder the requred drecton of rewndng : - The broken lne s vald for nsde wound labels. - The full lne s vald for outsde wound labels Feed the label strp over the gude axle (9) and under the roller (8) to the rewnd axle (7). 3. Attach the label strp approprately to the rewnd axle by sldng the clamp (5) over the label strp wth the clamp set n the groove of the rewnd axle (7). 4. Slde the clamp (5) as far as possble towards the dsc (6). 5. Slde the plate (4) onto the rewnd axle so that t slghtly touches the label strp. The label strp must be able to move between the dsc and the plate. 6. Tghten the knurled screw (3) on the plate. 7. Swtch on the rewnder on the power swtch. Fgure 7 Drect rewndng

12 12 5 Operaton Rewndng onto 40 mm (1.6 n) Cardboard Core Make sure that the sprng (1) s mounted on the rewnd axle (2) Consder that the cardboard core (3) should be about 1 mm (0.04 n) broader than the label strp Warnng Rsk of njury by rotatng engne parts. When swtchng on the Rewnder starts mmedately and wnds to the materal s tghtened Put the cardboard core (3) on the rewnd axle (2). Consder the requred drecton of rewndng : - The broken lne s vald for nsde wound labels. - The full lne s vald for outsde wound labels Feed the label strp over the gude axle (8) and under the roller (7) up to the cardboard core (3). 3. Affx the end of the label strp wth consderaton of the selected rewndng drecton to the cardboard core usng adhesve tape or label. 4. Slde the plate (5) wth the knurled screw outward onto the rewnd axle untl t stops. When usng small labels t s possble that the cardboard core not covers the sprng over the whole length. In ths case the groove on the plate must be algned so that t fts on the sprng of the rewnd axle. 5. Tghten the knurled screw (4) on the plate. 6. Swtch on the rewnder on the power swtch. 13 5 Operaton Rewndng onto 76 mm (3 n) Cardboard Core Frst remove the sprng from the rewnd axle Consder that the cardboard core (3) should be about 1 mm (0.04 n) broader than the label strp. Warnng Rsk of njury by rotatng engne parts. When swtchng on the Rewnder starts mmedately and wnds to the materal s tghtened Put the frst rewnd adapter (3) onto the rewnd axle (4) and slde t up to the dsc (1) untl t stops. Make sure that the knurled screw (2) of the rewnd adapter s led n the groove of the rewnd axle. Tghten the knurled screw (2). 2. Put the second rewnd adapter (3) onto the rewnd axle (4) and slde t towards the frst adapter untl the clearance between the outer edge of t and the dsc (1) s a lttle less than the wdth of the cardboard core. Tghten the knurled screw (2) Consder the requred drecton of rewndng : - The broken lne s vald for nsde wound labels. - The full lne s vald for outsde wound labels. 3. Put the cardboard core (5) on the rewnd axle (2). 4. Feed the label strp over the gude axle (9) and under the roller (8) up to the cardboard core (5). 5. Affx the end of the label strp wth consderaton of the selected rewndng drecton to the cardboard core usng adhesve tape or label. 6. Slde the plate (7) wth the knurled screw outward onto the rewnd axle untl t stops. 7. Tghten the knurled screw (6) on the plate. 8. Swtch on the rewnder on the power swtch.
