Utilize used batteries accrding apprpriate rules. Keep ut batteries f children. Save batteries in inaccessible fr children place installatin Open underwater husing. Pick up mirrr prism by a sharp knife. (Prism is glued very slightly, like a sticker, n the plastic pdium, easy t delete it by knife). Delete mirrr prism frm the husing. Using hex wrench unscrew 2 blts frm plastic pdium. Delete pdium frm the husing. Insert batteries int TTL-Cnverter. Befre installatin check that plus terminal f each battery is in Up psitin. Try TTL-Cnverter installatin t its place. Bend LED wires as necessary fr cncrete husing. Try t insert bth LEDs int ptical bulkheads. Install 2 white plastic spacers. Install TTLCnverter bard. Screw 2 blts, included with TTLCnverter package, by screwdriver. IMPORTANT! Push bth LEDs maximum deep int the ptical bulkheads. The LED must be maximum clse t transparent ptical element inside the bulkhead t get nrmal TTL accuracy. (Optinal). In case f using Electric Wire Synchrnizatin, cnnect electric bulkheads flat cables t 4-pin sckets n the bard. Carefully check fiber-ptic cables. Strngly recmmended t use nly riginal new (unused) NAUTICAM fiber ptical cables, listed in Specificatins abve. In case f using incnsistent fiber ptical cables, user can get a wrng expsure f underwater shts.

Maximum 2 pcs Fiber-ptic cables can be cnnected. Maximum 2 pcs Electric Wire cables can be cnnected. Sea&Sea and Ikelite dual electric cables are supprted at each utput as well. Optinal Accessries UW Technics #91340 Nikns style Bulkhead (M14 screw) with flat cable and 4-pin MicrMatch cnnectr. UW Technics #91341 Ikelite style Bulkhead (M14 screw) with flat cable and 4-pin MicrMatch cnnectr. Bulkheads are ptinal prducts and must be purchased separately. Initial Settings Set and check camera settings befre underwater shting: - Set apprpriate Expsure Metering ( Evaluative, Partial, Spt, Center-weighted) accrding yur shting cnditins. Right type f Expsure Metering is the key setting fr accurate TTL wrk. In case f wrng setting, the sht may be verlighted, r underlighted. Set camera s Flash Expsure Cmpensatin (and Expsure Cmpensatin ) t 0e v, as initial setting. Set apprpriate ISO. Recmmended t use ISO fr best reslutin and TTL accuracy underwater. Set Aperture and Shutter Speed accrding real underwater cnditins and shting task. Pay attentin that max fast sync speed fr underwater strbes usage is usually abut 1/250. Recmmended apertures F8-F16 fr wide angle pht, and F16-F22 fr Macr pht, as initial settings. Use ther settings recmmended by yur camera User s Manual. Using camera menu phtgrapher can ttally cntrl TTL-Cnverter underwater. Flash settings are always stred in TTLCnverter nnvlatile nbard memry, even after pwer is turned ff. Enter Flash cntrl menu t set initial preferences: Flash firing Enable (switch ON the flash) r Disable (switch OFF the flash) E-TTL II metering Evaluative r Average, accrding yur preferences fr metering fr flash Flash sync. speed in Av mde 1/250 fixed, 1/60-1/250 aut r Aut Enter External flash func. setting submenu:

Shting in TTL mde Set TTL-Cnverter nbard dial switch accrding yur strbe type: Z-240 underwater strbe - YS-D1 underwater strbe - YS-D2 underwater strbe - YS-250 underwater strbe - DS-161/160 underwater strbe Set main dial switch n the underwater strbe bdy t TTL mde. Please refer t cncrete strbe User s Manual t chse apprpriate mde (Z-240 set t S-TTL, YS-D1/D2 set t DS-TTL, YS-250/DS-161/DS160 set t TTL ). Set anther dial (+/-Ev crrectin) n the underwater strbe bdy t 0 ev psitin, as initial setting. Using Z-240 strbe, pay attentin: fr fiber ptical cnnectin set t 0ev as psitin 12 clck, fr electric wire cnnectin set t ttl as fixed psitin 9 clck. In case f ptical TTL, adjustment (+/-) is available by the strbe dial +/-Ev and by the camera wheel flash expsure cmpensatin as well, the final value is the sum f these tw crrectins. In case f electric wire TTL, adjustment (+/-) is unavailable by the strbe dial, but available by the camera cntrl flash expsure cmpensatin. During the shting, dependently f cncrete underwater situatin, strbe cnditin etc., phtgrapher shuld set (+/-) crrectin t TTL flash intensity. Available t d it by 2 ways: Use +/-Ev dial n the underwater strbe bdy (adjustment wrks fr fiber-ptical type cnnectin nly). Use camera Flash Expsure Cmpensatin functin. Such adjustment is recmmended, it is mre deep, wrks fr bth types f cnnectin. Available Flash Expsure Cmpensatin range fr Cann cameras: -3ev ev. User can adjust it by steps 0.3ev r 0.5ev (chse the step by camera menu), viewing the value n the camera service screen r n the menu screen. Cnnect TTL-Cnverter Ht She plug t the camera Ht She scket. Switch ON the camera. TTL-Cnverter activates autmatically (switch ON) when user pushes camera Shutter Release Buttn fr shting r fcusing. Device ges t

Submenu External Flash func. settings becmes available in camera menu nly in case f full cmpatibility f prducts. Enter submenu Flash mde : Set ETTL mde : Later, during the shting in TTL mde, adjust (+/-) Flash Expsure Cmpensatin t dark r t bright: by the camera wheel, if images are Fr nrmal TTL accuracy the distance frm underwater strbe t a target must be mre than 0.35m underwater (and mre than 0.7m fr any land tests). But camera can be psitined clse t the target as user needs. TTL-Cnverter is tuned fr nrmal TTL accuracy underwater. Land tests may give anther results. Cntinuse (serial) shting camera mdes are available in all mdes (TTL, M) f the prduct. But pay attentin, that underwater strbe usually recycles a significant time, s the shts in lng seria may have different lighting levels. T reach a cnstant lighting fr few shts in seria, usem anual mdew ithm inimum strbe intensities. In sme shting cnditins TTL may be nt effective r ut f wrking range. This case phtgrapher shuld use Manual mde. Shting in Manual mde Phtgrapher can use 3 different Manual mdes: 1-st Manual Mde Switch t M mde by camera menu. This is Manual mde fr universal usage, easy switchable and cntrllable underwater. This case TTL-Cnverter switches t apprpriate M mde autmatically tgether with the camera (by camera cmmand).

User adjusts strbe light intensity by camera wheel, lking t that scale: ** Pay attentin: In that mde fr manual adjustment by camera wheel, underwater strbe must be set in TTL (S-TTL) mde by dial switch n the strbe bdy. *** Fr infrmatin: In that Manual mde Pre-flashes are disabled. 2-nd Manual Mde: Switch t M mde by the dial switch n the strbe bdy. This is traditinal way fr underwater phtgraphers. User sets M mde and adjusts lighting intensity by the dial switches n the strbe bdy. ** Pay attentin: Fr that mde usage, it is strngly recmmended t keep camera in M mde with flash utput 1/1 by menu, t avid sme strbes restrictins fr input signals duratin. User shuld set M mde withut Pre-flashes by switches n the strbe bdy, and adjust strbe light intensity by the dial switch n the strbe bdy. *** Fr infrmatin: If camera is in M mde as recmmended abve, Pre-flashes are disabled. 3-d Manual Mde: Switch t M mde by setting TTL-Cnverter nbard dial switch t 0 psitin. This peratin can be dne nly befre submerging, when the husing is pen. This is frced Manual mde. Camera des nt recgnize any device n the HtShe scket, TTL prtcl is ttally disabled. In this mde TTL-Cnverter makes fixed maximum duratin pulse at each shutter release. ** Pay attentin: User shuld set M mde withut Pre-flashes by switches n the strbe bdy, and adjust strbe light intensity by the dial switch n the strbe bdy. *** Fr infrmatin: In that Manual mde Pre-flashes are disabled. Strage After shting switch Off the camera. Discnnect TTL-Cnverter Ht She plug frm camera scket. This way yu defend the TTL-Cnverter frm any accidents. Als, yu save TTL-Cnverter s battery, because its standby current cnsumptin is minimum in that case. Fr a lng time strage remve batteries frm TTL-Cnverter.
