Plug the Rion Cle into the Min Ciruit Bord 3. Instll the AMR Bord in the Enlosure 4. Verify the Eletril Connetion 5. Reonnet the Eletril Connetion to the FPI 6. Connet the AMR Eletronis Bord to the Network 7. Restore the onverter to servie 1.0 Introdution This doument is n ddendum to the MCrometer L-Series nd M-Series Converter Instlltion, Opertion nd Mintenne mnuls (Lit. No nd ). Smrt Output is n output option to interfe with FlexNet networks sold y Sensus, Itron, nd other AMI systems. When this option is inluded, n dditionl output le is lso inluded to onnet to trnseiver. (See Figure 1.) There is no proedure required for setting up the AMI interfe; it will ome with the le lredy onneted. There is no dditionl onfigurtion required on the onverter. However, the proper onverter firmwre must e instlled. For detils on remote mount nd outputs (4-20mA nd/or pulse), plese refer to the ssoited setions in the L-Series or M-Series Converter Mnuls. 2 3.0 Tools Required Hex Driver, M5 Srewdriver, Philips, #2 Srewdriver, Slotted, #1 Wire Strippers 4.0 Verify Produt Contents. Verify tht the following omponents re present in the shipping ontiner. Contt the ftory if ny omponents re missing or if the wrong iruit ord ws reeived. 5.0 Instlltion Proedure Prior to instlling the AMR ord, verify tht the MCrometer L-Series or M-Series onverter is running with the proper firmwre version. For Smrt Output to funtion, the onverter firmwre must e version Immeditely fter you power on the unit, the urrent firmwre version will e displyed on the LCD sreen during oot-up. If the onverter s firmwre needs to upgrded, ontt MCrometer Customer Servie to mke rrngements to hve it sent to the ftory to e reflshed. 5.1 Open the Housing nd Prepre for Instlltion Importnt! Remove power from the onverter efore proeeding!. Using n M5 hex driver, unfsten the lid of the onvertor eletronis enlosure from its min housing. Loosely fsten the seuring srews k to the enlosure.. Using #2 Philips srewdriver, fully deth the lid y dething the sfety ground wire from the lid. Return the srew to the lid.. Unplug the wired green onnetors from the power terminl lok nd the eletroni terminl loks on the min eletronis ord. Note: The exmple shown is the FPI Mg 394L irediretionl le hrness. 3 d. Loosen the glnd nuts for ll of the les tht you unplugged nd pull the wires k until they re ginst the side of the housing nd out of the wy. d e e. Remove the two #2 Philips srews in the srew posts tthed to the wll under the glnd nuts nd set them side for lter use. 5.2 Plug the Rion Cle into the Min Ciruit Bord. Unplug the rion le from the AMR interfe ord.. Unplug the green terminl lok for the ERT onnetor le.. Using #2 Philips srewdriver, remove the two srews seuring the min eletronis PCB to the housing. d e e d. Lift the min eletronis PCB from the housing until the rion le tthing it to the front pnel disply ord eomes tut. (The AMR port of the min eletronis ord should now e redily visile nd essile.) e. Plug the rion le into the min eletronis ord. 4 f. Reset the min eletronis ord into the guides loted ner (nd just ove) the front pnel disply ord. g f g. Seure the min eletronis ord to the eletronis enlosure using the two #2 Philips srews removed erlier in this step. 5.3 Instll the AMR Bord in the Enlosure. Plug the rion le in the AMR interfe ord with the red wire oriented towrds the enterline of the AMR interfe ord.. Position the AMR rket/ iruit ssemly with the uxiliry rket mounting holes.. Seure the AMR rket to the eletronis enlosure using the two srews removed in step ! Verify the Eletril Connetion Dngerous voltges my e present nd exposed when the onverter over is removed nd power is pplied. Use pproprite ution nd do not ontt ny omponents within the enlsure during steps 5.4 nd 5.5. Verify proper eletril onnetion with the onverter eletronis. Min Ciruit Bord. Reonnet the power terminl lok to the min eletronis ord nd pply power.. Wit pproximtely 10 seonds fter pplying power for the red LED on the min eletronis ord to hnge from stedy-on stte to flshing stte. Lights hnge from stedy to flshing. Approximtely 10 seonds lter, the LED on the AMR interfe should hnge from stedy-on stte to flshing stte. Note: If oth lights re not flshing, review the ssemly steps. 5 5.5 Connet the AMR Eletronis Bord to the Network. Prepre the three individul wires of the le for wiring to the pluggle terminl strip.. Remove the nut from one of the le glnds nd feed the ERT onnetion le through it until suffiient le extends into the interior of the eletronis housing.. Connet the 3-wire interfe to the terminl lok per the wire olor ode provided in the tle elow. (The exmple show t right is for the Bdger le.) 6 f. Tighten the seling nut of the le glnd properly to seure the ERT onnetion le to the eletronis housing s well s ensure proper seling of the enlosure.. Using #2 Philips srewdriver, reonnet the sfety ground wire (still onneted internlly to the housing) to the lid.. Using n M5 hex driver, lose nd seure the lid of the MCrometer onvertor eletronis enlosure to its min housing. f 5.6 Reonnet the Eletril Connetion to the FPI. Reonnet the eletril terminl loks to the FPI previously removed in step Apply power to the min eletronis ord.. After the system reoots, verify tht no lrms re present nd tht flow mesurement orreltes to the tul flow present. 5.7 Restore the onverter to servie. Apply power to the system.
