1 Actuator / controller for electrothermal actuators Code: EK-HE1-TP Datasheet STEKHE1TP_E KX devce for control of electrothermal actuators for zone valves n heatng and / or coolng systems. It has to be used n KX nstallatons for control of homes and buldngs. Descrpton The EK-HE1-TP actuator / controller s an eknex KX S-mode bus devce for the control of electrothermal actuators and / or motors for zone valves nstalled on dstrbuton manfolds of nstallatons wth radant panels or radators. The output channels use TRIAC to ensure a noseless command and a hgh number of cycles. The devce may work n combnaton wth C (normally closed) or O (normallly opened) actuators and may be used n nstallatons wth 2 or -ppe hydraulc dstrbuton; n the latter applcaton t s possble to nterlock the outputs, completely closng the actve valve before the openng of the coupled valve, avodng the mx of heatng and collng conveyng fluds. The devce s provded wth a membrane keypad for manual control of the outputs and ED ndcators for the dagnoss of the operaton state and of alarms trggered by short-crcut of the outputs or power falure. The devce can be confgured as smple actuator, n combnaton wth one or more KX room temperature controllers, or as actuator / controller wth acquston of max 2 temperature values from KX room temperature sensors. The devce ntegrates a KX bus communcaton module and s realzed for mountng on a standard mm ral. The devce s suppled by the KX bus and requres an addtonal 20 Vac or 2 Vac power supply for the electrothermal actuators. The housng s made for ral mountng accordng to E 01 n boards or cabnets for electrcal dstrbuton. The correct mountng s when the KX bus termnal s located at the bottom. When nstallng be sure to leave accessble only the front panel; all other sdes must not be accessble. For the nstallaton of the devce on the ral proceed as follows: wth the ad of a tool brng the lockng devce n the fully lowered poston (1); place the upper edge of the rear nner profle on the upper edge of the ral (2); 2

3 EKISTGUIDAEKAB1TP Connecton of the power supply The connecton of the 20 Vac or 2 Vac power supply s made wth the screw termnals (, ) located at the top front of the devce. The ncorrect nstallaton may result n electrc shock or fre. Before makng the electrcal connectons, make sure the power supply has been turned off. ote. When mountng the devce n boards and cabnets t shall be provded the necessary ventlaton so that the temperature can be kept wthn the operatng range of the devce. rotate the devce towards the ral (); push the lockng devce upward untl t stops (). Before removng the devce, be sure that power supply and controlled loads have been dsconnected and the bus termnal has been extracted from ts slot. Use a screwdrver to slde down the lockng devce and remove the devce from the ral. Connecton of the KX bus lne The connecton of the KX bus lne s made wth the termnal block ncluded n delvery and nserted nto the slot at the bottom of the housng. The delay s adjustable n the range... 0 s and s equal for all channels. Warmng The number of electrothermal actuators that can be connected n parallel to each output s lmted by the rated current and the startng current of the devce. Carefully check the nformaton on the techncal documentaton of the manufacturer of actuators. Connecton n -ppe systems B A B DCEKHE1TP 20 Vac or 2 Vac B A B ne KX Bus + - bus KX (heatng) bus KX ne Warnng In order to supply the KX bus lnes use only KX bus power supples (e.g. eknex EK-AB1- TP or EK-AG1-TP). The use of other power supples can compromse the communcaton and damage the devces connected to the bus. (coolng)

4 ote. When usng n nstallatons wth -ppe hydraulc dstrbuton, the outputs have to be used respectng the couplng between the channel pars 1A-1B, 2A-2B, -B, A-B. At the end of the download the operaton of the devce automatcally returns to normal mode; n ths mode the programmng ED s turned off. ow the bus devce s programmed and ready for use. Connecton n 2-ppe systems 20 Vac or 2 Vac B A B Reset of the devce To reset the devce remove the bus connecton by extractng the bus termnal from ts seat. Keepng pressed the programmng pushbutton, rensert the bus termnal n hs seat; the programmng ED blnks fast. Release the programmng button and remove the bus termnal agan; the reset was carred out. ow you need to address and confgure agan the devce va ETS A 1B 2A 2B Warnng The reset restores the devce back to the state of delvery from the factory. The address and the value of the parameters set durng confguraton wll be lost. Dmensons [mm] bus KX ne B A B DQEKHE1TP Confguraton and commssonng Confguraton and commssonng of the devce requre the use of the ETS (Engneerng Tool Software) program V or later releases. These actvtes must be carred out accordng to the desgn of the buldng automaton system done by a qualfed planner. 90 bus KX ne ote. The confguraton and commssonng of KX devces requre specalzed sklls. To acqure these sklls, you should attend the workshops at KX certfed tranng centers. Confguraton For the confguraton of the devce parameters the correspondng applcaton program or the whole eknex product database must be loaded n the ETS program. It must be avoded the use of solvents or other aggressve substances. In ths mode of operaton, the programmng ED s turned on; download nto the devce the physcal address and the confguraton wth the ETS program. Dsposal At the end of ts useful lfe the product descrbed n ths datasheet s classfed as waste from electronc equpment and cannot be dsposed together wth the muncpal undfferentated sold waste.
