This documet pertais to v3.5.4 of Avid Xpress DV for the Widows XP operatig system ad for Mac OS X. Istallatio Istructios To istall Avid Xpress DV o Widows XP: 1. Follow the istructios i the AvidXpressDV Istaller. You will be asked to remove your curret versio of Avid Xpress DV v After the uistall is complete, click Istall Avid Xpress DV agai ad cotiue to follow the istructios. If you received the Avid Pa & Zoom Plug-i whe you registered Avid Xpress DV 3.5, the istallatio will ot overwrite this plug-i.

2 Versio Addedum To istall Avid Xpress DV v3.5.4 o Mac OS X: The Avid Xpress DV Macitosh istaller o loger requires Mac OS 9 to be istalled o your system. 1. Before you istall Avid Xpress DV v3.5.4, locate ad double-click the Avid Xpress DV folder curretly istalled o your system. 2. Double-click the SupportigFiles folder ad locate the AVX_Plug-Is folder. 3. Copy or move this AVX_Plug-Is folder to your desktop. 4. Follow the istructios i the AvidXpressDV Istaller. 5. After Avid Xpress DV v3.5.4 is istalled o your system, move the AVX_Plug-is folder back ito the SupportigFiles folder. By overwritig the ewly istalled folder with your old plug-is folder, this will preserve ay plug-is (icludig the Avid Pa & Zoom plug-i, PowerPack, or other 3rd party plug-is) you may have origially istalled. Istallig the Avid Xpress DV PowerPack CD-ROM The Avid Xpress DV PowerPack Macitosh istaller o loger requires Mac OS9 to be istalled o your system. 2

3 Bugs Fixed i v3.5.4 o Both Platforms Bugs Fixed i v3.5.4 o Both Platforms After istallig the Spaish User Iterface you caot create a ew project after lauchig the applicatio. This oly occurred whe you istalled the Spaish.tdf file from the Avid Xpress DV Localizatio CD-ROM. This problem has bee fixed. Usig the Frech, Germa, Italia, or Spaish User Iterface, a error occurred whe you reetered a existig project. Whe you opeed a existig project ad the created a ew project, a error occurred whe you wet back to ope the existig project. This problem has bee fixed. Avid Xpress DV fails to detect a timecode break of 12 frames durig record. This problem has bee fixed. Avid Xpress DV detects timecode breaks. The followig bugs were fixed i Avid Xpress DV v3.5.3 CPR, ad have bee icorporated ito this release o both platforms Applicatio freeze for certai effects arragemets. The applicatio could freeze for some sequeces with effects arraged i a certai way. Oe coditio is attemptig to play the last effect i a sequece. You might also see a error message "DecompStream::AllocateStream ra out of streams, see cosole for more ifo." Avid has fixed all kow causes of this coditio. Audio ad video may drift over time. May maifestatios of this problem have bee fixed for most platforms. 3

4 Versio Addedum Desktop play delay would ot keep sych. This problem is fixed. Templates added for some decks. We have added templates for Paasoic AJ-D455P, Soy DSR-25, Soy DSR-25-PAL, Soy DSR-45, Soy DSR-45P, ad Soy DSR 1500A/AP decks. We have added templates for the Leitch DPS-575 trascoder for NTSC ad PAL. While NTSC is fully fuctioal, it is oly possible to digitize i PAL with this trascoder (o digital cut). Leitch is aware of this problem, ad they are workig to correct it. Support added for Shared Projects. We have added a third radio butto i the sigle user ope project dialog called "Exteral." It is useful i at least two cotexts: 1. If you have, for example, a exteral FireWire disk ad you wish to carry a project aroud from machie to machie, choose Exteral to create a o-local Project. 2. If you wish to share a Project o a etwork drive, choose Exteral. Problems duplicatig the Start TC colum ito TC24 colum. I NTSC matchback projects, the user ca "duplicate" the Start TC (30fps) colum ito the TC24 colum for use i geeratig 24-frame EDLs. This operatio will create 24 FPS equivalets of the values i the Start colum. PowerPack oly. 4

Itroduced with Avid Xpress DV v3.5.3 CPR release, this problem is fixed. Updatig your Avid Xpress DV dogle required you to ru uder Macitosh OS9. Previous versios of the Avid Xpress DV Dogle Updater required you to ru uder Macitosh OS9. This has bee fixed. New versios shipped from Avid allow the Dogle Updater to ru uder Mac OS X. Avid EDL Maager ad Mac OSX: You must use a MSDOS pre-formatted RT11 floppy. With Mac OS X, you had to format a RT11 floppy o a Macitosh OS9.2 system. With Avid EDL Maager 11.4, you o loger have to do this. You must use a MSDOS pre-formatted floppy. Most floppies sold today ca be bought with this already doe for you. The followig bugs were fixed i Avid Xpress DV v3.5.3 CPR, ad have bee icorporated ito this release o Mac OS X oly Avid Xpress DV ow supports Mac OS 10.2 "Jaguar." If you are updatig to 10.2 ad use Apple's "Archive Ad Istall" optio, the Mac OS X 10.2 istaller will remove ay o-apple items from the system folders, icludig compoets previously istalled by Avid. You should re-istall Avid Xpress DV if you are uable to lauch Avid Xpress DV after updatig to The "Sed To DVD" settigs may eed to be reset after upgradig. If you fid that the auto-lauch feature o loger works after the 10.2 upgrade, delete the DVD authorig applicatios from the "Sed To DVD" pull-dow meu ad re-add them. 5

The frame that was uder the play head before playig a sequece could appear for a brief istace after pressig stop o some systems uder OS It has bee fixed. O-lie books o CD would ot lauch. This problem is fixed. Added "Help" for Avid Storage Maager. "Temp directory ot foud" dialog. The applicatio ow uses the curret workig directory ad does ot recreate the old directory if it does ot exist. OMF loaders/savers for HIIP are ow available. The istallers have the correct loaders ad savers which fixes the "Module ot foud" error that would occur tryig to import or export OMF files. Importig Quicktime with a alpha chael was broke. This problem is fixed. Audio was two frames out of sych with video. This problem is fixed. 6
