5 2. Tutoral 2.1. Prncple Durng measurement wth Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2, an mpact body wth a hard metal ball ndenter s launched by sprng energy aganst the sample to be measured, and then rebounds. Before and after the mpact, a permanent magnet nsde the mpact body passes through a col n whch a voltage sgnal V s nduced by the forwards and backwards movement. Ths nducton sgnal behaves proportonally to the veloctes. The rato of the rebound velocty v r to the mpact velocty v multpled by 1000 yelds the hardness value HL (Leeb hardness). HL s a drect measure of the hardness. Whle HLD refers to testng wth the D devce verson (mpact body 27 mm long, flat support rng), HLDL refers to testng wth the slm front secton of the DL Accessory Kt (mpact body 82 mm long, support rng wth slm long front secton) Sample Preparatons Keep the sample free of vbratons durng the test. Lght and thn parts must be specally fastened (see Testng lght samples ). Ensure that the surface of the work pece s clean, smooth and dry. If requred, use approprate cleanng agents for cleanng, such as acetone or sopropanol (no water!). Testng Procedure Select a hardness unt (see secton Settngs ). Select automatc compensaton for mpact drectons other than vertcal down ( ), when testng n HLD / HLDL. Press to select the averagng mode AVE ( ). Conduct testng mpacts by cyclng through the 1. load 2. poston 3, trgger mechansm. 1. The mpact devce when not n contact wth the test pece s held frmly wth one hand and the chargng tube s depressed wth the other hand untl contact s felt. The chargng tube s allowed to slowly return to the startng poston. Alternatvely, ths loadng movement can be performed n poston after an mpact (before the devce s moved to a new poston), or on any other locaton that shall not be tested later on. 2. Poston the support rng on the test pece. Take partcular care to wholly seat the rng on the test pece, but not concdng wth a prevous test ndentaton. 3. To trgger an mpact, push the actuaton tube n the drecton of the housng. After approx. 1 mm (0.04 nch), the mpact body s released. After the last mpact of a seres, press the key repeatedly to dsplay the hardness average and, n case of the Equotp Pccolo 2, further statstcs of the measurement by Proceq SA 5

6 If possble, follow the standard practce of rebound hardness testng as descrbed n the natonal standards DIN (metallc materals) or ASTM A956 (steel, cast steel and cast ron only). If not possble, the user s recommended to carry out at least 3 to 5 mpacts at ntervals of 3 to 5 mm (0.12 to 0.20 nch) at each measurng locaton and to use the average of the ndvdual values. Do not carry out an mpact n an area that has already been deformed by another mpact. Also, do not load the devce when t s already postoned n the new test locaton, snce the materal under the devce may be affected through pror stress Testng lght Samples In case samples are lghter than 2 kg or sample sectons have unfavourable mass dstrbuton, samples can go nto vbraton as the mpact body hts the test pont. Ths results n unwanted energy absorpton and thereby dstorts the test result. Therefore, samples below 5 kg should always be supported by sold worktops. If the mass falls below 2 kg but stll exceeds 0.1 kg, couplng the sample to a larger mass can help to prevent vbratons, where a rgd connecton between the sample and a sold support s ensured. The followng requrements must be met for couplng: The contact surface of the sample and the surface of the sold support must be level, flat and ground smooth. The sample must be at least 3 mm (0.12 nch) thck. Follow the couplng procedure: Apply a thn layer of couplng paste to the contact surface of the sample. Press the sample frmly aganst the support. Rub the sample aganst the support n a crcular moton. Do the mpact as usual, where the mpact must be carred out vertcally to the coupled surface Testng curved Surfaces The devce only works properly when the mpact body s precsely at the end of the tube at the moment of mpact. When concave or convex surfaces are tested, the mpact body ether does not entrely leave the test tube or comes out too far. Replace the standard support rng by a specally suted rng to do the testng (see Accessores or contact your local Proceq representatve) by Proceq SA 6

7 3. Overvew The Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2 s used for testng the hardness typcally of metallc surfaces. The tester measures the Leeb hardness HLD (HLDL wth DL Accessory Kt), employng the rebound method. As a result of ts compact desgn, measurements can be carred out quckly, on the spot and n any poston and drecton. Conversons of the determned HLD or HLDL hardness to dfferent hardness scales are provded to Brnell (HB), Vckers (HV), Rockwell (HRB, HRC) and Shore (HS) Applcaton Examples Hardness tests on already assembled machnes or steel and cast constructons. Testng of metallc workpeces when the test ndentaton should be as small as possble. Qualty control measurements for quck determnaton of a partcular heat treatment condton. Fast testng of numerous measurng ponts to examne the change of hardness over large areas. Automated testng (Pccolo 2 only) Cauton: Other applcatons could be dangerous. 11 4. Gettng Started 4.1. Power on/off The nstrument s always ready for operaton. To swtch on the Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2, smply press a key or load the devce and trgger an mpact, as descrbed n Testng procedure. The nstrument dsplays the value as shown before shuttng down. If the nstrument s turned on by performng a new mpact, the dsplay shows the new measurement Auto Shutdown After 5 mnutes wthout actvty, the devce automatcally swtches to sleep mode (blank dsplay). A reset can be carred out to correct faults, dsplay the seral number and set the devce to ts default settngs. Press all three keys (,, ) at the same tme. The nstrument performs a dagnostc self-check. Informaton about the devce wll be dsplayed: product name, seral number, converson standard and USB connecton status Chargng the Battery A fully charged battery s suffcent for at least measurements. If the battery s too weak for further measurements, the message wll appear alternately wth the result of the last measurement. To recharge the battery, connect the Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2 USB socket to the USB power supply or to a PC / notebook. The chargng status of the battery s ndcated by the LED. Fast flashng Battery s chargng. Voltage state of the battery s not suffcent for another measurement. After a few mnutes, the LED goes from fast flashng to slower flashng. Flashng Battery s chargng. LED contnuously lt Battery s fully charged. To fully recharge the battery, t s suffcent to charge for up to 2 hours. The battery wll self-dscharge after 3-5 months f the devce s not used. Cauton: The ntegrated L-Ion battery allows over 500 complete charge / dscharge cycles. If the fast flashng LED does not automatcally change to slower flashng after a few mnutes of chargng, the battery lfe has expred. The battery then must be changed by qualfed servce personnel only by Proceq SA 11

12 4.4. Performance Check 1. Verfy that the Equotp test block s supported by a sold worktop to ensure t s mmovable and free of vbratons. 2. Peel off the protectve sheet, whch should be stored for subsequent reuse. Ensure that the testng surface s clean, smooth and dry. If requred, use acetone, sopropanol or smlar (no water!) to remove any resdues of adhesves or drt. 3. Power on: To turn on the nstrument on, press any key or perform a loadng movement. 4. Settngs: Enter the Converson Scale menu level ( for mpact body D, and for mpact body DL wth slm test tp ncluded n the DL Accessory Kt) by pressng the key. Press the key agan to enter the Selecton menu level of the hardness scale Leeb. Select automatc drecton compensaton usng the key or. To confrm the selecton press the key. Start the averagng mode by pressng the key. 5. Perform 10 ndentatons, whch deally shall be evenly dstrbuted across the dameter of the test block. 6. The average setpont hardness of the block s engraved n the block surface. The measured average shall concde wth the target range. Congratulatons! Your new Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2 s fully operatonal and you can now contnue wth your measurements. Frst tme user: Complete the Tutoral or watch a demonstraton by a qualfed Proceq representatve. Ensure that the testng surface s clean, smooth and dry before you stck the protectve sheet back on the test block. Please refer to Advanced Settngs Usng the DL Accessory Kt to change the devce setup from D to DL probe, and vce versa by Proceq SA 12

13 5. Settngs When startng up after reset or battery depleton, the Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2 s at the Impact menu level and set to the default settngs (hardness scale HLD / HLDL wth mpact drecton correcton and sngle readngs). To adjust the settngs, press the key to enter the Converson menu level. In case of the Equotp Pccolo 2, regardless of the settngs all data are automatcally stored as orgnal HLD / HLDL values wth mpact drecton and tme. When transferrng the data to the PC usng the Pccolnk software, they can then be converted to any other scale wthout accumulaton of converson errors, snce the stored orgnal HLD / HLDL value s used as the orgnal value for all conversons Hardness Scales To change hardness scale, proceed as follows: Press the key to enter the Converson menu level. Browse through the hardness scales wth the keys or untl the desred hardness scale appears n the dsplay. Press key to enter the materal group selecton. To change the hardness scale, a vald materal group must be selected (Please refer to secton Materal groups ). Smply perform an mpact to return to the Impact menu level wthout change of hardness scales. To measure n the natve rebound scale HLD / HLDL, no materal group must be selected, as no converson s appled. Hardness scale conversons to other scales only apply when the approprate materal group s selected. Sutablty of conversons for specfc materals should be qualfed on calbrated samples before use Materal Groups To change materal group proceed as follows: Use the keys to choose a hardness scale and enter the Selecton menu level (please refer to secton Hardness scales ). Browse through the materal groups wth the keys or untl the desred materal group appears n the dsplay. Confrm selecton wth the key and return to mpact. The hardness scale symbol or the converted last measurement wll be dsplayed by Proceq SA 13

HV, HB, HRC, HRB, HS, and, for Equotp Pccolo 2, also Rm). When dsplayng HLD / HLDL, the user can choose for or aganst automatc compensaton: Press the key to enter the Converson menu level. Use the keys or to navgate to the hardness scale HLD / HLDL ( / ). Confrm wth the key to change to the Selecton menu level. Use the keys or to select (automatc mpact drecton compensaton) or (no mpact drecton compensaton). Confrm wth the key to change back to the Impact level Tensle Strength (Equotp Pccolo 2 only) Measurements for certan steels can be converted to tensle strength accordng to DIN EN ISO Follow the same nstructons as gven n Hardness scales Custom Converson Curves (Equotp Pccolo 2 only) When testng materals for whch no generally applcable conversons are avalable, user specfc conversons can be defned usng the Pccolnk software. These custom converson curves can be accessed through opton n the hardness scale menu, see secton Hardness scales. In order to set up custom converson curves, please refer to the Pccolnk part of ths manual by Proceq SA 15

16 6. Advanced Settngs Smultaneously press the keys and for at least 2 seconds to access the Advanced Settngs menu. Use the keys or to browse through ths menu, and confrm wth the key to enter one of the followng settng submenus: 6.1. Usng the DL Accessory Kt The Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2 can be used ether wth mpact body D (standard) or wth mpact body DL (avalable as accessory), respectvely: The D front secton (mpact body 27 mm long) s commonly used for most Leeb rebound testng, often referred to as unversal probe for most applcatons. The DL slm front secton (mpact body 82 mm long) s used where ts narrow profle allows access to confned spaces and recessed surfaces. Make sure the correct mpact body and support rng are nserted n the devce, otherwse the nstrument does not dsplay a hardness value. Support rng and mpact body can be changed smply by releasng an mpact and unscrewng the support rng. In order to apply the correct mpact body, proceed as follows: In the Advanced Settngs level, browse to and confrm through. Use the keys or to choose between mpact body D (hardness scale HLD ) or DL (hardness scale HLDL ) Confrm selecton wth key. The nstrument exts the Advanced Settngs level and changes back to the Impact level. The settng of mpact body (D / DL) can be changed also usng Pccolnk. Changng the mpact body brngs the nstrument back to ts default settngs (hardness scale HLD / HLDL wth mpact drecton correcton and sngle readngs). To adjust settngs, please refer to secton Settngs Shore Converson Standard The converson standard used for converson to Shore hardness HS can be changed n the Advanced Settngs menu. Proceed as follows: In the Advanced Settngs level, browse to and confrm wth the key. Use the keys or to choose between default converson accordng to ASTM E 140 or Japan converson accordng to JIS B Confrm selecton wth key. The nstrument exts the Advanced Settngs menu level and changes back to the Impact level. The Shore converson standard can also be changed usng Pccolnk by Proceq SA 16

17 6.3. Lock Settngs (Equotp Pccolo 2 only) The key can be locked to deny access to the nstrument settngs. When key lock s actvated and the key s pressed, appears. To lock / unlock settngs proceed as follows: In the Advanced Settngs menu, browse to and confrm wth the key. Use the keys or to choose between lock settngs or unlock settngs. Confrm selecton wth key. The nstrument exts the Advanced Settngs menu level and changes back to the Impact level. The lock / unlock functon can also be controlled usng Pccolnk Fxed Number of Impacts (Equotp Pccolo 2 only) In order to end a testng seres, commonly the user closes the seres usng the key. However, f a fxed number of mpacts, e.g. n = 5, s desred for each seres, automatc termnaton of the seres after 5 recorded values can be set n the Advanced Settngs menu level. To set a fxed number of mpacts, proceed as follows: In the Advanced Settngs level, browse to and confrm wth the key. Use the keys or to decrease or ncrease (range from 1 to 99) the current number set on the nstrument (e.g. ). Set the new fxed number of mpacts wth key. The nstrument exts the Advanced Settngs level and changes back to the Impact level. The number of mpacts can also be set usng Pccolnk Impact Counters (Equotp Pccolo 2 only) The Equotp Pccolo 2 features two ndependent mpact counters: The measurement counter can be controlled by the user through Pccolnk (see the Pccolnk part of ths manual). Ths counter has ts value ncreased wth the frst measurement of a seres n n averagng mode, or wth each sngle measurement when the averagng mode s not used. The mpact counter cannot be reset. Ths counter s ncreased after each mpact. Whlst the mpact counter wll manly be used for reasons of a general overvew and mantenance, the measurement counter may be used by the user to dentfy a testng seres at the plant. The number of the last completed seres s dsplayed when cyclng through the test statstcs by Proceq SA 17

18 7. Data Evaluaton 7.1. Statstcs Statstcs for measurement seres of up to 99 mpacts can be calculated automatcally: To enter the averagng mode, press the key at the Impact level. appears. Perform the desred number of mpacts. To cancel the last readng, press the key whle the measurement s shown on the dsplay. Press the key to close the seres. The nstrument wll dsplay the arthmetc average of the measurement seres. Press the key to cycle through the statstcs. Equotp Bambno 2 can only dsplay the average, the number of readngs, the hardness scale and the materal group. The measurement seres s automatcally completed when n = 99 s exceeded. 21 10. Mantenance and Support Proceq s commtted to provdng a complete support servce for ths nstrument. It s recommended that the user obtan avalable updates and other user nformaton regularly Regular Devce Checks Performance checks (see secton performance check ) of the nstrument should be carred out at least once a day or at the latest after 1000 mpacts. In the case of nfrequent use, carry out the check before begnnng and at the end of a test seres. In addton, have the devce calbrated by an authorzed Proceq servce centre once a year. The unt s workng properly when the average s wthn the target range. If the average devates from the setpont value by more than ±6 HLD / HLDL, see secton Troubleshootng Frmware Update The devce frmware of the Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2 can be updated usng the PqUpgrade PC software Cleanng Impact devce: 1. Unscrew the support rng. 2. Remove the mpact body from the gude tube. 3. Clean the gude tube wth the cleanng brush. 4. Reassemble. Ball ndenter: Clean the ball ndenter of the mpact body wth acetone, sopropanol or smlar. Housng: Clean the dsplay wth a clean, dry cloth after each use. Clean the USB connector socket wth a clean, dry brush. Never mmerse the devce n water or clean t under runnng water. Do not use abrasves, solvents or lubrcants to clean the devce Storage Only store the Equotp Pccolo / Bambno 2 n the orgnal packagng and n a dry room free of dust Updatng the Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2 Devce Frmware Connect the devce to the computer. Devce frmware upgrades can be done by usng ether PqUpgrade or Pccolnk. Usng PqUpgrade The computer must be connected to the nternet for the update n Express mode. Launch PqUpgrade.exe from folder Equotp Bambno 2\PqUpgrade\ on Equotp CD. Select Express and confrm wth Next by Proceq SA 21

22 Select the devce type and confrm wth Next. In the Devce search result and selecton dalog box, make sure the seral number of the devce n the drop-down feld s the devce to be updated, and then clck Next. PqUpgrade wll now search the Proceq servers for any avalable frmware updates. Follow the on-screen nstructons to fnsh the update. Usng Pccolnk (Equotp Pccolo 2 only) Select the Devce menu from the menu bar and select PqUpgrade n the submenu, or clck the symbol n the toolbar. Follow the nstructons n secton Usng PqUpgrade. Before updatng the frmware, the measured data should be saved on the computer. The Custom update s recommended for advanced users only. 11. Troubleshootng Battery appears. Charge the battery. If the fast flashng LED does not automatcally change to slower flashng after a few mnutes of chargng, the battery must be changed (by qualfed servce personnel only!). See secton Chargng the battery Empty Dsplay If nothng s ndcated on the dsplay, actvate the devce through pressng any key or perform a loadng movement or an mpact. If nothng happens, the nstrument may be too cold and/or the battery may be dscharged. Take the devce to a warmer place and/or charge the battery Reset A reset can be carred out to correct faults and to dsplay the seral number. Press all three keys (,, ) at the same tme. The nstrument performs a dagnostc self-check. When the unt has correctly restarted, the followng nformaton s dsplayed n sequence: 2017 by Proceq SA 22

Clean the ball ndenter of the mpact body. Replace the mpact body f necessary, or replace the test block f there s nsuffcent space for addtonal tests. 2. Clean the mpact devce. 3. Check the mountng and wear of the support rng. Check for deposts. Clean or replace f necessary. 4. If the nstrument stll shows excessve devatons: return the devce to an authorzed Proceq servce centre for recalbraton / nspecton. The ncorrect materal group, hardness scale or no compensaton of mpact drecton may have been selected. Refer to secton Settngs. The selected converson scale s not n the permssble range (HRC too hgh, HRC too low, or smlar). Select another hardness scale. Indvdual values are scattered very wdely or are contnuously too low. 1. The testng pont s nsuffcently prepared. Carefully prepare the testng pont for the mpact, see secton Sample preparatons. 2. The mpact s trggered whle the devce s not held vertcally on the surface. Ths may occur especally when usng the DL slm front secton. Try usng the plexglass sleeve DL for better algnment. 3. Sample s nsuffcently supported. Prepare the sample for the mpact e.g. through applyng Equotp couplng paste, see secton Testng lght samples. Do not re-grnd test blocks or try to refurbsh mpact bodes. Ths wll mpar accuracy and may also deterorate functonalty of the Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno Error Messages ndcates a wrong measurement. Perform an mpact n the ar. Verfy whether the support rng s frmly attached. ndcates a sgnal falure due to napproprate envronment (e.g. electromagnetc felds). Fnd an adequate testng envronment.,, ndcate that the mpact energy s not wthn tolerance: 1. Do not release the mpact body too quckly. 2. Follow the cleanng nstructons n secton Mantenance and Support. 3. The mpact sprng may be too weak, damaged or broken. Returned the devce for servce.,, ndcate napproprate applcaton, where the sgnal cannot be evaluated. The sample may not be seated frmly or may be too lght, see Testng lght samples by Proceq SA 23

24 Pccolnk Software (only for Pccolo 2) 1. Safety and Lablty 1.1. Safety and Usage Precautons Ths manual contans mportant nformaton on the safety, use and mantenance of the Pccolnk software. Read through the manual carefully before the frst use of the software. Keep the manual n a safe place for future reference Lablty and the Software Lcense Agreement Our General Terms and Condtons of Sale and Delvery apply n all cases. All nformaton contaned n ths documentaton s presented n good fath and beleved to be correct. Proceq SA makes no warrantes and excludes all lablty as to the completeness and/or accuracy of the nformaton. The subject of the lcense s the software that Proceq dspatches to the customer by electronc means, n the verson as sent and n the form as receved by the customer. Proceq accepts no responsblty for any propertes of the software, ether general or n terms of ts sutablty for any partcular purpose. The customer carres the rsk that the software may not meet hs expectatons n terms of results or performance. Proceq shall also not be lable for any damage suffered by the customer or thrd party rrespectve of whether the damage s the drect or ndrect consequence of nstallng or usng the software or s n any way connected wth nstallaton or use of the software. In partcular, Proceq shall not be lable for loss of earnngs, proft or savngs, or for loss of or damage to software or data. Ths apples even f Proceq s expressly made aware of such rsks. Installng the Pccolnk Software 2.1. Installng Pccolnk Insert the Equotp CD nto the computer. Launch the PICCOLINK_Setup.exe fle from the folder \Equotp Pccolo 2\ Pccolnk Software\ on the CD. Follow the on-screen nstructons. When the dalog box Completng the Pccolnk Setup Wzard s dsplayed, make sure the check box Launch Pccolo 2 USB Drver Install s selected before you press Fnsh by Proceq SA 24

25 2.2. Installng the USB Drver The USB drver establshes communcaton between the devce and the computer va a USB nterface. The nstallaton dalog of the USB drver pops up automatcally when the software s nstalled. Follow the on-screen nstructons. When the dalog box InstallSheld Wzard Complete s dsplayed, make sure the check box Launch the CP210x VCP Drver Installer s selected before you press Fnsh. In the new dalog box press Install to nstall the drver. Restart the computer to complete the nstallaton. Use Pccolnk of verson or later wth Equotp Pccolo and Equotp Pccolo 2. Older versons are not compatble wth the Equotp Pccolo 2. A message may pop-up warnng you that the software has not passed the Wndows Logo testng. Clck Contnue Anyway Establshng Connecton between Devce and Computer Connect the Equotp Pccolo 2 / Bambno 2 devce to the computer usng the USB cable. The followng messages are dsplayed when the devce s frst connected to the computer: Pccolnk s now ready to communcate wth the devce by Proceq SA 25

Updatng the hardness tester frmware Launchng Pccolnk Start Pccolnk usng the con on the desktop, on the quck launch toolbar or start Pccolnk from Start menu. The Pccolnk user nterface wll show up. Connect the Pccolo 2 to the computer and clck the Connect symbol n the toolbar to connect and transfer the readngs The message devce to the computer. s brefly shown on the unt dsplay when connectng the Most of the functons lke Save, Open and Prnt can be used analogously to the correspondent functons n most other Mcrosoft Wndows applcatons by Proceq SA 26

27 3.3. Edtng Data After selecton, sngle readngs or entre measurement seres can be edted through the Edt menu or rght-clckng on the relevant feld or row. Through the Edt menu, the converson settngs for each or all measurement seres can be altered. Ths can also be done usng the dropdown menus n columns Scale and Materal Deletng Data Select the Devce menu from the menu bar and select Delete Devce Memory n the submenu, or clck the symbol n the toolbar. Clck Yes to delete all measurements from the devce. If you wsh to save the measurements to the computer pror to deleton, select Yes. If No s selected, the devce memory s erased rrevocably Exportng Data Data can be exported by usng Copy or Export. In both cases, the exported data s a delmted text fle, n whch the tab character separates each feld of the table. The Copy functon s used to export only the selected felds of the table. It can be pasted drectly nto an excel sheet Remote Control Equotp Pccolo 2 devces can be controlled remotely through Pccolnk s Remote Control secton by Proceq SA 27

28 3.7. Lock devce Use the / symbol n the Remote Control secton, or access the Devce Settngs dalog through the Devce menu to lock / unlock the Equotp Pccolo 2 devce keys. The devce can also be (un-)locked usng the Advanced Settngs menu n the Equotp Pccolo 2 devce Ext Software and Connecton Qut the software Select the Fle menu from the menu bar and select Ext n the submenu, or clck the Close symbol n the rght upper corner. Dsconnectng the devce Smply remove the USB cable. The message s brefly shown on the unt dsplay when dsconnectng the devce from the computer by Proceq SA 28

29 4. Devce Settngs The devce settngs wndow can be reached by clckng the symbol n the toolbar. A Pccolo 2 has to be connected. The menu allows readng out and changng some settngs of the devce. After changes have been made to any of the settngs n the dalog box, the actual devce settngs wll be updated only after pressng Send Settngs. To update the dalog wth the present devce settngs, clck Receve Settngs Impact Counters The Equotp Pccolo 2 features two ndependent mpact counters: Measurement counter can be controlled by the user through the feld Measurement counter (range from 1 to 9999). Impact counter can only be reset by the devce manufacturer Fxed Number of Impacts In order to automatcally complete each measurement seres after a pre-defned number n of mpacts, use the feld Fxed number of mpacts to adjust n, e.g. n = Custom Converson Curves When testng materals for whch no generally applcable conversons are avalable, the pre-defned standard conversons can be adjusted usng the HC settngs. When developng such custom converson curves, the user must pay attenton as follows: Sample surfaces must be prepared very carefully. If possble, samples shall be of a sze whch makes couplng to a support base unnecessary. The functonng of the Equotp Pccolo 2 devce shall be verfed aganst the Equotp test block pror to each measurement seres. The functonng of the statc hardness testng machne (HV, HB, HRC etc.) shall be verfed aganst respectve test blocks of the correspondng measurng scale and range. To obtan a par of comparatve values, the mean values from at least 10 to 15 HL measurement values and from 3 values from the statc test shall be calculated. These values shall be found from proxmate postons n a small measurng area by Proceq SA 29

30 As an example of a custom converson curve, see the graphc where the complete converson curve s parallel-shfted upwards by + 12 HB. Ths curve can be found when selectng the HB Brnell scale and materal group 6.1 Alu-AN40 (ABB). User-defned conversons can be accessed on the Equotp Pccolo 2 through the opton n the selecton menu of the hardness scale, see the devce manual Shore Converson Standard In order to use Japan Shore conversons accordng to the JIS B 7731 standard, select Custom J from the dropdown feld Converson Standard Impact body D / DL In order to apply the correct devce settngs after changng the mpact body, use the dropdown feld Impact Body. Make sure the correct mpact body and support rng are used wth the devce by Proceq SA 30

31 5. Troubleshootng 5.1. Unnstall default Drvers to nstall suppled USB Drvers The Pccolnk software and the USB drver must be nstalled before the Equotp Pccolo 2 can be connected to the computer. If the Equotp Pccolo 2 has been connected to the computer before nstallng the suppled USB drver, default drvers may need to be unnstalled before nstallng Pccolnk: Connect devce to the computer. Open the Wndows devce manager. Locate the Equotp Pccolo 2 (marked as Slcon Labs CP210x USB to UART Brdge) n the devce lstng. Unnstall the Equotp Pccolo 2 (wth rght mouse clck). Dsconnect the devce Dsconnecton of the Data Connecton Do not dsconnect the unt from the computer durng data transfer. If the data transfer s nterrupted, s reported. Re-establsh connecton Support Proceq s commtted to provdng a complete support servce for Pccolnk.
